Dorothy?
Dh is determined that if this baby is a girl she will have the name Dorothy. Whether it be a first name or middle name.
My grandmom that passed away in 2000 was Dorothy and his grandmom that was Dorothy passed away 1 year ago and thats why he wants to use the name.
What do you think? To old fashion? What names go with Dorothy?
I know we have plenty of time to worry about names but he is just to excited right now.
Re: What do you think of the girl name
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

It's not a name I've ever thought about, but I really like it a lot! And even better that it has family ties.
There's a Dorothy in the daycare class next to DD's. I've heard her called Dori, but her parents also call her Dodo and the teachers have picked up on that now. It's pretty cute.
Thanks ladies.
I am like Dori. but again I have a long road to go before I worry about names.

I've always liked the older classic names. Plus it's a wonderful way to honor a family member!
Dori or even Dottie is cute for a nn.

I love Dorothy. We almost used it as a middle name, after my great-grandmother Dorothy, but decided not to because she already had two namesakes in the family. But it's a lovely name and not popular at all (which I think is a plus).
You might also consider Theodora. It's the same root/meaning (gift from god) but just reversed. Then Teddy is a cute nickname for a girl.
