Hairstyle for DS (need pictures!)

I can't stand the way anyone cuts DS's hair.  I'm sure it's 100% my fault because I offer no useful guidance other than "short around the back & over his ears", but right now he looks like he's wearing a yarmulka (the jewish hat, forgive my spelling) with another layer of hair sticking out from under it.  grrr.

I normally take DS to a kid's hair salon (not the mall-type, this one is supposed to be a professional salon geared for kids, but it still sucks).  Apparently I can't just give general guidance.  Please show me some cute styles that might work for my DS without the use of product (which is all I can find online).  I'm desperate.  His hair is straight & thin & lays straight forward, no matter the number of times I push it to the side.  Hopefully if I show them a picture of what I like they'll be able to re-create it.

And please, please, please, don't torture me with adorable pictures of curly haired kids -- I have total hair envy for those boys!

    Not sure if this is what your looking for, but see my sig for my boys' haircut.  It does lay flat although we swoosh it to the side in the front.  Good luck!
