TTC After a Loss

coffee/tea lovers who are TTC

So I have been limiting my self being we are starting to TTC the middle of Sept. I am down to 1 cup of coffee OR tea in the AM and one cup of tea at night. I know i should really only be on 1 cup  a day and ween to nothing. BUT this is a HUGE improvement since I used to drink like 5 cups a day.

What are you coffee/tea lovers doing?

Re: coffee/tea lovers who are TTC

  • I love coffee and tea but dont drink it all that much. One small cup on the way to the train in the morning and another reg size on my walk. Occassional decaf tea if any....

  • Well I switched to decaf for my nightime tea, and if I get starbucks more than once a day (yes it happens Embarrassed  ) I get the 2nd decaf. But even decaff has traced of caffeine in it.

Im really trying but its so hard.

  • I just cut back a ton. I normally have about 5 cups a day but now I only have 2. When I got pg both times I didn't cut out caffeine before. I got KUd anyway and couldn't drink/smell coffee anymore anyway (made me hurl)
  • I quit cold turkey a couple of months ago.

  • I love both, but am limiting myself to 1 cup of tea in the morning, and coffe only on special occasions (only 1 cup).  This is not just b.c of ttc, more to prevent the breakouts I get from too much caffeine.
  • I also quit cold turkey.  Gave up soda as well.

  • i still sneak in a red bull or two at the beginning of my cycle. then i drink green tea up until O but if bareeeely has any caffiene in it. i just drink alot more Squirt.

  • I've found that drinking my 2 cups of green tea required pre O fills my need for that hot drink in the AM.

    Coffee - I don't mind decaf. If I'm really struggling I'll do a half-cafe mix.

  • I "treat" myself to coffee now and then and swtiched to decaf tea in the a.m.

It's tough though.  I lurve me some coffee!

  • I'm awful. I've weened myself to 1-2 cups coffee (from 3-5 all day) in morning and none during day, and only do caffeine-free diet cokes now about 3-5 times a week.

last time I was KU I cold turkeyed all caffiene and diet sodas (for the aspartame and caffeiene issue) and was fine.

If I don't get BFP this cycle, I'm switching to solely green tea in morning with coffee only as "treat"

I can do it (she says shaking in withdrawl . . .)

  • This may be a stupid question, but does Dr. Pepper have caffiene!?

  • To answer previous posters question - yes Dr. Pepper has caffeine in it.

I wasn't a regular coffee drinker, and have slowly found myself drinking a bit more coffee and tea recently. I generally drink either one cup of coffee or tea a day. I'll amend that if I get PG. Right now I don't know if I could function in the morning without it. When I get coffee at Starbucks though, it's always a short latte, so I figure small portion, not much coffee ... right?? ;)

  • I love my Starbucks- I can't lie.  I try to limit it to 1 cup a day- even doing half decaf, which works best for me.  When I was pregnant for some reason the idea of coffee turned my stomach- it was so weird!  So I am not worrying about it now- not sure how my body will react next time around.

Oh- and by the way- this may seem random but we have a lot of similar dates and DH and I are most likely going to TTC in Sept as long as AF shows up in time- we could be buddies??

  • I drink whatever I'm in the mood for.  I've gone without caffeine for 6 months and have two miscarriages to show for it, so I'm in *eff* it territory and no longer will make the *serious* and relatively ridiculous dietary changes that WTEWYE suggests.

I drink up to 2-3 cups of coffee/tea a day without remorse.  The statistical probability that it will cause another miscarriage is low to nil and still highly controversial.

  • To be honest I don't change anything during my cycles, but switch to fully decaf one I conceive.  But I drink as much water as humanly possible...and I've found that having 1 REALLY GOOD cup of coffee (like a SB latte, and figure it has lots of good milk in it too :)  satisfies me more than a pot full of Folgers.
  • I'm into decaf for the most part, as caffeine tends to bother my stomach.   If work is particularly brutal, I'll have a regular cup of coffee in the afternoon.  Even my Diet Coke is caffeine free.

  • I have switched to decaf and only have a few (3 at the max) cups every weeks. I was drinking mulitple cups a day.
  • I have cut back mostly, but still drink 1-2 cups a day (believe me, that's a vast improvement from my 5-6 cups a day), and then I switch to tea. I really don't see the harm in a moderate amount while TTC, and once I get pg I will switch to all decaf tea. But I am sorry, it could take months to TTC so I am not going to suffer until it happens! EVERY single one of my girlfriends and all the woman in my family drank coffee while TTC, and some even had a cup of joe every morning their whole pregnancies (I don't plan on doing it but it was fine for them). I didin't take in a drop of caffeine or artificial anything when I got pregnant this last time, I ate perfectly, did everything text book, you name it, and I STILL m/c, so I just feel like trusting my body and right now, coffee feels fine.
