Nursery Inspiration?

Hi Everyone!  So where did everyone come up with their nursery inspiration?  I'm not having to much luck finding ones I love.

It was difficult this time getting inspired for the nursery for me too.  I actually bought a ton of bedding and a month latter decided I hated it and returned it all!  It wasn't till my friend showed me a baby shower invite that the idea came to me for the nursery. You never no where inspiration will hit.  What I think works best is standing in the room and imagining how you want the room to feel, sounds strange but works.  Good luck.

I looked at celebrity nurseries in like, People magazine, to get ideas.  I also looked at catalogs that showed pictures of complete nurseries, such as Posh Tots.  Their stuff is too expensive for our budget, but the pictures did help me get a sense of the type of room I wanted to create for DD.  https://www.poshtots.com/

In the end, though, I mostly looked at a whole bunch of bedding and cribs.  Once DH and I decided on the crib and bedding set we were getting (there was some compromise involved), the rest of the nursery took shape from there.

Thanks girls!  I love the Poshtots website.  You're right, to expensive, but great inspiration!

My inspiration for this new nursery comes from the fact that I mostly hate all things kid looking. That is hard to find when decorating for a kid...so my options are limited... :/

I started shopping accessories and the idea evolved from there!  Most of which I found at Urban Outfitters. They have great wall decor/art & lamps.
We went with solid/simple print crib bedding, none of the sets we saw fit our style.

In our case, we hate most baby themes... so I ended up making her bedding and we're putting her nursery initially in our bedroom, which the start componets can be see on my blog, here: https://subzoo.blogspot.com. For both of us, we'd rather spent money on putting real furniture in her bedroom once she's old enough to appreciate it since really, the nursery decor/theme is for you.

I got the bedding from BRU, it was a pretty popular pattern and there were a lot of comments about it, some that included pictures.  I saw lots of nurseries that way and saw what I liked and didn't like.

    Also, HGTV.com is great!

We decided not to buy a bedding set, instead we were looking for ideas on how to paint and decorate.  A lot of the books and websites I saw were too fancy, but we ended up finding a great book by Sunset (called Baby Rooms).  They had a lot of great and simple ideas, so we used that for inspiration and adapted it to be exactly what we wanted.

I started with a color theme (bright colors! didn't like pastels). Then went with a general style I like (modern). From there it was easy to pick pieces and put it all together.

For us we didn't find out the sex of the baby so we wanted something different... well both DH and I are really interested in the Solar System and the Universe so we went with that... so I got a Solar system mobile for the ceiling and got a friend who is a great mural painter to do a mural of different planets, spaceships and UFO... it's not a typical theme so we love it! and just got beddings that had stars and moons...

yeah, it's really cool to look at some of those designer nursery decor but I couldn't find the one I loved so had to do my own thing...

Now that D is 9months old, he is really starting to notice the Solar system on the ceiling when it starts to rotate... he loves the Saturn.

    Have fun!
