I'm going next week & from what I hear as long as you feed them on take off/landing that they shouldn't notice their ears because the sucking helps. I am going to change him right before to hopefully avoid having to change on plane & also was advised to bring moby/sling.
I flew with DD when she was 7 weeks old, and then again when she was 8 weeks and 10 weeks. She did really well, and just slept the entire time. I had bottles and her pacifier handy so she could eat/suck during take off and landing, but she didn't want to. The pedi told us that she doesn't worry about infants flying as long as they are six weeks old, but that is just her own rule and each pedi is different.
You just have to prepare yourself for the "you better have a good baby" stare that some people are going to give you and the panic you will see in the faces of the people you are sharing a row with. The most annoying part of the whole flight was this man one row behind us and across the aisle constantly staring at us and looking all disapproving when it was his kids that were kicking our seats, being disrespectful, and screaming the whole time. When I got off the plane he saw me in the jetway and said "wow you have a great baby". I bit my tongue, but I really wanted to say something to the effect of "too bad you were so worried about my good baby, that you totally ignored your bad kids all flight".
