Our church nursery director told me about this one and our pedi confirmed... for diaper rash caused by diarrhea, use Cherry Maalox (the Mint kind burns!).  Put a little Maalox on a cotton ball and dab it onto the rash.  I usually let it sit for a few seconds or pat the excess dry w/ a cloth.  Then cover that with A&D ointment.  The Maalox cuts the acid from the poops and actually numbs the pain!  The A&D seals it in so it can heal faster.  If I do this with every diaper change, his rash is usually gone in 24 hours.  If the rash is caused by yeast, just swap Lotrimin for the Maalox and still cover with A&D.  If you don't know what's causing the rash, alternate Maalox and Lotrimin w/ each diaper change.
