Make a panzanella/bread salad.
Grill any veggies you like (peppers, zucchini, corn, etc) and some ciabattta bread. Then toss with cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, feta, capers, basil, balsamic and olive oil. The beauty is that you can use whatever is on hand.
My recipe for pasta sauce (I don't make it the same way twice, so this is merely a base. Feel free to experiment)
tomatoes - toss them in a pot whole with about a tablespoon of water and let them get soft enough to mash - like potatoes. Then mash to the desired chunkiness. (I leave the peels on - when you start to mash you can fish them out. They have lots of nutrients.)
tomato paste - i buy it in a tube and use it to periodically thicken the sauce if I need to.
garlic, onion, shallots - I sautee these to take the edge off while the tomatoes are bubbling and then toss them in. If I'm making a meat sauce, they meat goes into the pan with this stuff.
Dump it all together - I love to use the crock pot for this - and then let it simmer. Add spices to taste.
enjoy!

Mm, farmers grilled cheese. One of my favorite college meals was grilled cheese w/ tomato, and it is soo much better w/ good bread and cheese and heirloom tomatoes!

There is a puddle of drool on my keyboard after reading this post. Oh I looooove heirloom tomatoes. I had a delicious heirloom tomato salad last night that was just tomato slices, a little sprinkle of blue cheese, and "micro-basil" whatever the h*ll that is. Deeeelicious.
You can also make a kick-ass BLT. OMG I'm so hungry.
We've had the same "problem" and I've been making gazpacho. SO yummy.
I don't use a recipe for it, just make it up as I go...
Blanch tomatoes in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then peel. Put tomatoes in food processor or blender with: cucumber, red bell pepper, red onion, garlic, some french bread (optional), a little olive oil & balsamic, salt & pepper. You can put in whatever you want - I had a bunch of zuccini so threw that in there, too. Process/blend until big chunks are gone, but not until smooth. Adjust flavors and chill. Yummo!

Re: Ideas for Heirloom tomatoes...?
I wish I did, but I got nuthin' - the CSA has been so crazy about them...and they haven't even been that tasty : (
We did a caprese salad last night : ( I'm thinking maybe a pasta sauce with the rest of them.
This is a delicious recipe w/tomatoes:
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/mac-and-cheese-recipe2/index.html
I would also use a sourdough bread instead of the regular white bread.
salsa
how about a goat-cheese and parm., caramelized onions and heirloom tomato tart (using puffed pastry)?
or pesto pasta w/ the tomatoes??
This.
You can also make a big pot of pasta sauce with them and then freeze the excess.
Or can them and put them up.
