Do we still have a say anything post over here?
I was just looking at the pics of my kids that MrsJules took this weekend and I got so sad. Alex looks SO big. Then I started thinking how Foster will be that big one day, too.... Why does time have to go so fast?
I am totally going to cry when Alex starts preschool this year!
Re: Baby SA?
I was driving though a neighborhood near mine and saw "kindergarten roundup" (orientation) on the sign and it made me tear up. I thought about the fact that Amelia will be there far too soon for my liking. DH thought I was nuts since it's still 3 years away.
He'll love it. He is so social and thrives on that interaction. I hope it gives you the rest you need!
ditto. I think daycare/preschool is really great for toddlers. I've always said that even if I was a SAHM I would have Orion in some sort of full time school. At this point he needs way more mental stimulation and social interaction than I feel equipped to give him, especially now that I have a baby. Enjoy your time with Mathis :-).
thanks you guys. i need to hear that. i feel guilty, then happy, then guilty for being happy. but if he was home, hed be spending too much time in front of the tv while i nurse mathis, etc and nap time was a nightmare. this will be good.
He will have a great time. It will be good for all of you.
BTW, I was super impressed with how well he and Avery sat and shared ice and mimicked each other for that last 45 minutes yesterday. I thought for sure I'd get a great nap out of Avery, but alas, all I got was 15 minutes in the car.

Last night Alex made me laugh so hard. I was getting him ready for bed and he was stalling. He did not want to go to sleep so he kept singing to me and trying to get me to stay.
He said he was going to sing Twinkle Twinkle to me and I told him that was fine, but after he sang it I was going downstairs. He said "OK, after I am done singing it you can go."
Then he proceeds to sing the song like this:
Twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinkle......
Twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinkle.....
<total silence til I said "Alex?">
Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle
Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar....
Ditto everyone else V!
Kaitlyn has stopped going to sleep on her own. It's driving me crazy.
(which makes me feel horrible lol)
V, I'm in the same boat. Maddie starts MDO tomorrow and I cannot wait. Lately, she has been pushing my buttons like never before and I'm about to lose it.
So far today, she has gotten into a bottle of acrylic paint and poured it all over herself while wearing her halloween costume from last year (which I WAS planning on selling on ebay, I guess not now). And she has gone into the refridgerator and decided that playing in the tub of Country Crock spread would be super fun (luckily, this was easier to clean up because I caught her early).
I agree with everyone V, I know it's hard though. I have a hard time leaving Claire at home with my mom while I run to the store or something. I miss her too much.
I don't really have anything to report. Claire is just growing way too fast. Oh and scratches her face up really good no matter how short I cut her nails.

I am curious to see how it works. We broke the bottle in 2 days. The pacifier took 2 days. I have a feeling potty training will be like 2 years.

Rena has pretty much switched over to one nap. This should be a good thing, but her nap is only 1.5 hrs. She's never been a big napper but I was hoping that the one nap would be at least 2 hours. I knew that was wishful thinking. She's pretty much a crankpot by 5-6 pm.
And she's getting her molars and has diarrhea every 2 hours. I'm so tired of changing poopy diapers!
Yes, yes she did. She was wearing a dress so I had pity on her.
Hahahaha! I LOVE it! What a sneak.
hang in there, she may surprise you.
maddy was always a crappy napper... when we were down to 2 naps, they were 30-45 mins each... (less than that when she was even younger!!)... and when she first went to one nap, they were about an hour, 1:15... gradually, they got longer, and on average are 2 hours now... even 2.5-3 at least once a week or so...
Thanks alisa. A couple other friends told me the same thing. I hope it's true in Rena's case too. When she was taking two naps, they totaled about 2 to 2.5 hrs. So she's just not getting enough rest with one nap right now.
I dropped E off at daycare this morning and she was not happy about my leaving her. I know she likes it there and enjoys playing with her new friends, but it was so hard to have to walk away from her while she was crying and reaching for me. It's so dang heart-breaking.
i'm looking at her sweet picture and thinking that face and diarreah just do not compute.

awwww. cute!
today was the first day of MDO. no hug, no kiss, no tears, nothing. All I got was a "Bye Mama". I guess it's better that way.
I, however, did shed a tear or two during the car ride home.
Had a classic moment leaving the mall. I was putting Joshua in the stroller and he started screaming "help!"
Reagan has done that to me before. Fun.
Crazy Christmas Kids!
Hilarious.

It really wss. It took all of my self control to not laugh out loud
LOL! I'm happy to report that this round of diarrhea seems to be over!
Aww! Well, if it makes you feel any better (or worse), the 2nd day has historically been the worst for us. Because they know what's coming, and they're not completely comfortable with it yet. But I hope it goes just as well for you!
______
Sam starts soccer on Friday! I am very excited about it. I was torn between soccer and swimming. I think it's important to teach him to swim--he's taken some intermittent lessons here and there, but nothing consistent--but I really wanted him to do something that is interactive with other kids too. Plus he's always seemed really good at dribbling the ball. I had ultimately decided upon swimming, but it filled up too fast, so soccer it is!
Hannah had her first full-on temper tantrum today. She's been a pretty even keeled kid. Sure, she's gotten mad and even had little tantrums, but nothing like Sam used to have. Until today. On our way to the bus stop. On a super SUPER busy road, where I absolutely could not just let go of her and let her scream it out, which made it worse. We sat at the bus stop holding her still for a good 15 minutes until she calmed down enough for us to get on the bus.
You should have seen us when it was all said and done. Sweaty, stinky...awesome.
That is the perfect setting for a Calgon commercial.

Last night I baked a cake for a coworker and had to carve it out quite a bit. We had a huge plate of cake leftover. DH walks in and says "Avery and I could tear this cake up."
I told him "Avery is on a diet, remember?"
He said "Everyone gets a cheat day."
