Since the cupcake boutique is closed, surely I can bake them myself? I'm a pretty good cook, I think I can whip up a few dozen. Right?

totally. I made some awesome (if I do say so myself...) Cookie Monster and Elmo cupcakes a few weeks ago and it was surprisingly easy!

and yes--you can totally do it. we've (in general) just become lazy and would rather just pay for them to be made than bust our asses doing it. I made S"s cupcakes for both of her bday parties! they were yummy!

If I can make banana bread, you can make cupcakes. I'm no baker but my bread came out pretty darned well if I do say so myself!

Yes you can! I made from scratch cupcakes this past weekend for the first time. Used a recipe from The Pioneer Woman. Super easy and sooo very delicious.

Oh, you definitely can. One thing - you mentioned it was going to be a surprise party for M. Would he be supsicious or question you at all if you suddenly decided to bake a bunch of cupcakes? That is the only thing I'd worry about. I'd be afraid it might ruin the surprise.

I was going to suggest that when you posted that she was closed. You can totally do it ... esp if you used some of the ideas from the pics that happ posted. Something as easy as sticking an umbrella drink thingy into each one.

Yes, just don't overfill the cups or else they'll be all like muffins rather than nicely shaped cupcakes. I second the WS Sprinkles mix as well...if you're looking to save a little time!
