talk to me about bottles please!

At several friends' advice, I registered for Dr.Browns,only to be told by other friends that they are hard to wash, complicated, etc. Several people have now recommended the Playtex bottle with drop-ins. The plan is to breastfeed, and I'll be using a Medela pump if that makes any difference.

So, what are your recommendations??? Oh, and how many of each to register for??? TIA!!

I would register for a few of everything. (2 or 3)We use the drop-ins and love them. Your LO will help determine what they like. We also had some Nuk bottles but DS did not like them.

We are using Dr Brown's for occassional BM bottles. The taller narrow ones fit on the Medela pump. So that's nice when I need to pump a bottle for use that day. The drop-ins are nice too - we have some in case. And DD also takes the Medela bottles. Sorry, not sure that helps.

We've tried so many different bottles and finally ended with Dr. Browns. I breastfeed but at night DH gives DD a bottle. Every bottle we had tried before Dr. Browns use to give her so much gas. After starting to use browns DD sleeps about four hour and has very little gas. They are a little harder to wash but to me they are worth it.

I pump into Medelas and sometimes use those to feed him. Most of the time he is using the wide Ventaire bottles because that was easiest for him to go between breast and bottle. My DH started giving him a bottle from the 3rd week on, fyi, so even though I BF, we needed some bottles to pump with.

We use Dr. Browns and really like them. I was lucky because that was the only bottle I offered DS and that's what he took - no problem.

I BF and gave Conor a bottle 1x a day. He has always been a gassy baby - even before I introduced bottles. Dr. Browns never caused him more gas than he already had.

They do have a lot of parts to wash. But it's not impossible to get them clean. I wash all my bottles by hand. But they can but put in the dishwasher on the top shelf.

I registered for several brands/kinds of bottles. I only received a 3-pack of Dr. Browns so that's what we tried and it worked.

I breast fed at first, but my milk never came in very good. We tried several different ones and like the Playtex Vent-Aire the best. She was too gassy with all the others that we tried.

I EBF and we only use The First Years Breastflow bottles. They feature a 'nipple within a nipple' that simulates a letdown and the same actions must be performed by your LO as in breastfeeding to get milk. They were recommended to us by our LC. They have been fantastic and we have been able to go from breast to bottle and back seamlessly. I know Target carries them. GL!

Gosh, bottles. With my son we tried EVERYTHING - Dr.Browns, Soothies, you name it. We wound up using drop-ins because it was the only bottle he would take. I bought tons and wound up with those. So I second the notion of not buying too much until you see which your LO likes.

That said - if you are planning to breastfeed than those First Years breastflow bottles are awesome. They require the baby to suck like they do when they nurse. They weren't around for my DS but my DD goes from breast to bottle and back with no issues with those. And they come in BPA free.

I have been wondering this exact same thing. My cousin and I are pregnant together (due a week apart), so we have done a lot of shopping together.

We were at BRU and someone had opened a lot of different bottles and we took advantage of the situation and were able to check out all the different brands. We both thought we wanted Dr. Brown's, but when we got to look at them, we thought that Dr. Brown's looked super complicated to wash/sterilize. I wanted something that was vented, but didn't have a gazillion parts. I ended up registering for the Avent bottles with the yellow packaging. The vent is in the nipples, and there are no extra parts.

I'm not sure how Caroline will feel about them, or how easy it will be considering that she will be EBF if possible...but that was my take on them after looking at lots of different brands and taking them all apart.

This. We tried Avent, Nuk and Playtex VentAire before DD decided on the Playtex drop-ins. But I love the drop-ins so I'm glad that's what finally worked for her!

We use Dr Browns and DS does well with them. They have 4 parts and are easy to put together after you have done it once. They aren't "complicted". I hand wash them in the sink every day and it's no big deal.

I would recommend getting 8 oz bottles. I got 4 oz at first and DS outgrew them very quickly. If I had just gotten 8 oz, I could have just put 2-3 oz in the beginning and wouldn't have all these extra 4 oz bottles around! I have 6 bottles because he has 6 bottles a day and I only have to wash bottles once a day.

I didn't like the drop ins. They dripped for me. I never have any leaks with Dr Brown. I'd recommend just buying a couple of each at the beginning and seeing what you liked the best.
