I visited an inhome day care this morning that I loved. It seems to be exactly what I was looking for. The problem is that there is a very strict sick policy. She considers runny noses a reason for them to be kept home. I understand she doesn't want other children getting sick but this seems a little extreme. Is it or is this normal? I'm just concerned about the winter and missing work alot because my husband doesn't get sick days.
Re: Sick policy ?
If this was the case at my current DC then I may as well have an inhouse nanny or one of us would have to quit our jobs because DD always has a runny nose, she even has one when she is teething regardless of a cold or not!!
Our DC sick policy is kids must stay home for at least 24hrs if there is: 101F(fever), 2 blow outs in 1 day, 2 vomiting sessions in 1 day, generally feeling upset, crying and being miserable, known contagious disease...pink eye, RSV, hand foot and mouth, croup etc
I normally keep DD home when she has a fever or any of the above.
Good luck!
If my dc had that policy, I think half the kids would have been out most of the winter. I can't really remember what our policy is--mainly fever, vomiting, unexplained rash, diarrhea, or too fussy.
