Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Is this asking to much?

When Lillian was born the hospital had a NILMDTS photographer come and take pictures.  Unfortunately I had to be rush to surgery and was not there when the photographer showed up and she had to leave right away when I got back (I was very upset about having to go to surgery and missing this). She later told us that because she was unable to get photos of all of us that if we had any pictures that we took ourselves to email them to her and she would touch them up and include them in the slideshow and stuff for us.

DH sent her 4 emails with photos (the files were quite large as she wanted the raw images in full size - so that is why the 4 emails).  She emailed him back saying she would use all the photos we sent to make sure to tell our baby's whole story.  Well- we got the finished dvd yesterday and it upset me.  She had included all the photos we sent of our boys, dh, and my mother holding her in the hospital but none of me holding her (dh had sent 3).  I went back and looked at the emails dh sent to make sure he had indeed sent them and discovered that she did not use any of the photos from the first 2 emails (which included the pics of me w/ Lillian, Lillian by herself and me pregnant).  I'm not sure if she missed them or what because the email was sent to the exact address as the others.

Would it be to much to ask her to redo the video to include at least one of the photos of me holding/ kissing her at the hospital?  We had to ask her to make some changes a few weeks ago (she had not sent us anything yet) because we unexpectedly found out our baby was a girl and not a boy (the nurse had said boy and the dr. said they would do testing to make sure then the nurse came back and told us they were not going to do the testing after all and we would never find out for sure - I explained this in more detail in a post a few weeks ago).  I know the NILMDTS photographers volunteer their time and money to do this for families but it really upsets me that the photos of me with her are not included.  This is the only video we will ever have of our daughter.

Do you think that I'm asking to much and should be grateful for what we got or is it reasonable to ask her to redo it?  I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate what the photographer has done for us but I'd like the photos included.

  • I don't think it would be too much to ask for. I would def. want those pictures of me holding my daughter.

  • Theres no harm is asking.  I dont think its asking too much, it probably isnt too much work to add in photos to the video.

  • As a photographer my self I can say sometimes emails sent to website email address dont always go through. So the first couple of emails may not have gone through on her end. I hate when that happends. Just email her, and explain your side. Im sure it wont be a problem :)

  • I don't think it's asking too much at all.  If the photographer thinks you are, then she chose the wrong profession.

  • Absolutely not asking too much.

If you're having trouble getting them to her, i have a friend who is a pro. photographer and volunteers for NLMDTS as well. Here is her blog & e-mail, I'm sure she would be happy to help you if you need it. She is amazing.

  • not too much.  Of course I don't know what program she uses to make that but me and my husband make dvds like that a lot and usually u can just go in and edit it.  And asking sooner would be best probably because if she does this all the time she may not save the file for long.  It never hurts to ask. • Thanks ladies - Dh talked to the photographer today and apparently she just completely missed those emails.  She found them and after looking at them told dh she understood why I wanted them included and she is going to redo the video.
