Are round cribs safe?

I've had my heart set on a round crib & went to look at one this weekend...the boutique owner no longer carries them! :(  She stopped carrying them 3 years ago because she claims they are unsafe.  I searched and did not find any reports saying they were unsafe.  Has anyone heard they are unsafe?  Or does anyone own one - are they sturdy?

    Hmmm, that's odd. All cribs have to meet the same safety standards.

    Don't know about safety, but I've always wondered about buying sheets for them..Also, I'm not sure about the diameter of the round cribs, but my DS will scoot from one end of the crib to the other in the middle of the night. I can't imagine him being in a round crib.

    I don't know about safety but I've heard they are a lot smaller.  I also can't imagine buying stuff for it...like sheets and crib skirts.
