Medium Oak Colored Crib

My Mom offered a crib to me that she had from my nephew.  I was under the impression that it was white and so I'm going to pick it up on Monday (she lives a couple of hours from me).  Found out today that it is Medium-Colored Oak, not white.

I'm dismayed but still happy not to have to pay for a crib.  My question is, I feel like my bedding options are limited because of the color of the crib.

Do you think this would work...?

Re: Medium Oak Colored Crib

  • One more related question...

Also, if you think the bedding would work with that kind of crib, what color do you think I should paint?  I like the color in the picture of this bedding but do you think it would probably be smarted to paint a light tan/beige color?

  • I personally think it would be fine - I'm guessing the lighter brown in the bedding will be pulled out more by the crib color.

FWIW, our crib is a medium oak color. All of our woodwork is this color so it works well in our home & I'm personally not a fan of white. I didn't worry too much about "matching" the woodwork, but our bedding also doesn't have browns in it.

  • Thank you - I think the Medium Oak color can look awesome... I just wasn't sure what bedding would go well with it, especially for a boy, which is what we're having.

    I'm probably just over-thinking!

    Thanks for the input.

  • I think it will look fine! And you probably are over thinking.

    I would probably paint a beige/tan also.

On another note, u are making me feel extremely far behind. you are 16.5 weeks and already know the sex and have a crib and have your bedding picked out!!!

  • If you have a big room, I think the brown would be fine for paint, you could also do a light blue. We also took a hand me down crib because we need so many things that we'd rather save since it is in such good condition, it's light oak and impossible to match. I think the bedding you picked would go just fine.

We had a really experienced ultrasound tech with awesome equipment at our NT Scan.  She told us boy and we had two doctors in the office tell us boy too.

In a way, we lucked out.  In another way... We found out so early, we don't have lots of "milestones" to look forward to now.  Just waiting for LO to kick!
