Normal for H to be on meds for IVF?

I guess this is one part that I hadn't heard about ....but when we got our protocol and med. delivery, there were antibiotics for DH in there.  Just wondering if this is typical, or if there might be some other reason that DH has to take them? Thanks!

  • Yep!  It's standard at my RE's office for men to take antibiotics.

  • Yes, same as my clinic. They want to make sure that your H's fresh sample is as 'clean' and bacteria free as possible.
  • Yes, my DH had to take them as well.  My RE told us they were to prevent any infection.

  • Yep... My RE gave me the same explination as LuluK and Reg.

  • DH got antibiotics even though we were using frozen semen. The reason being the doc wanted to lessen my chances of getting any infection during the IVF- even something as stupid as a sinus infection can cause issues.
