So I guess I might be getting a CS adjustment..

It's been 11 years since our CO went into place. DD's BD was making minimum wage of 5.15/hr back then and I was providing her insurance. I'm not 100% sure why they are doing an adjustment. The paper states the law that says you can choose to have an re-evaulation every 3 years or it is mandatory if you have ever been on TANF (which I have not). The paper I got also said it IS being evaluated and that it will occur within 30 days and had some paperwork for me to fill out. Under normal circumstances and anytime in the last few years, I would have definitely be getting an increase after all these years, however BD quit his job in September and he just started working part time about a month ago I don't know if they are doing this now because he isn't having CS taken out of his new job yet (his wife has been paying it and they have been behind a little) or because they requested it because SM is about to try to add DD to her insurance (since DH lost his job and that is where DD had coverage before and my insurance has a 10,000 family deductible) and they think it will go down or what.

Surely, they won't decrease CS. He pays 53/week...... In my state CS is a flat 20% of the NCP's income for the first child, but he has another child so it will be adjusted down to 17.5%. The NCP is also supposed to pay for medical insurance but at the time of our original CO, he did not have insurance and DD didn't qualify for state insurance so we put in there that I would cover her but that he could cover her once it was available. Or course, he has never added her to his plan because he didn't "have" to. Will they calculate it off of a PT wage? Last I knew they would at least input the minimum wage at 40 hours which would still give me an increase in CS.

This whole process makes me nervous and if he didn't initiate the review, I really don't want him thinking I did because he knows DH lost his job and I don't want him thinking I am trying to get more money from him because of it.

  • Ditto.  Or he requested it thinking he could get it reduced since he was unemployed/underemployed.

  • Sounds like he put the request in or filed for assistance.

I would be shocked if it went down. I spend more then that in gas a week. I would think someone could keep up with that payment even on part time pay.

  • I agree, it sounds like he initiated it.  I bet he is trying to get it based off his part time wages or something.

50 dollars a week! That is ridiculus!

  • I would assume it is b/c he was collecting from the state.  Either way I don't know if you could call him to just say that you got the paperwork in the mail and did not know if he initiated it or if the state did but just in case you wanted to let him know.  That way he knows it was not you and neither of you are being defensive.
