Pity party for me. . .

DS's 2nd birthday party is tomorrow and last night I stayed up ALL HOURS to bake and assemble an AWESOME 3 dimensional fire truck birthday cake-- seriously, I was impressed with myself.

Wake up this morning, my cake decided to fall apart.  I was desperately trying to save it but only managed to save the back end of it- the front is totally gone.  I am going to try to make-shift a new front tonight, but what if it falls apart again?  And you know it won't be the same as the original anyway.  So sad for my cake. . . . at least the grocery store always has some on hand in a total emergency, but still.

  • I am thinking the solution might be to stick it in the freezer when I am done-- probably won't make it taste great, but I am going for looks at this point;-)  Maybe I'll buy a cake to actually eat.  But we'll see.  My mom is coming into town today, so maybe she can talk me down.  You should have seen my poor DH flipping through his mental rolodex to determine exactly how he should respond to the situation.

  • How disappointing. : (
You know what though-- I have found that some projects I have to do over again, I do much better the second time around. Good luck!
  • That is so disappointing. I know there are lots of cake decorating sites on the internet. Cakecentral.com had a lot of good information. Hopefully something on there could help you. I agree with NNO - sometimes second time around the results are much better. Good luck.
  • ohhhh  good luck
