I have no idea how to pronounce Carys, so that's my first thought- she'd have to deal with a lot of "Carrr....iss? ?Carrr....eese?" at school and in the workplace. ?However, it is a pretty name.?

I met the most adorable little girl named this. I think she spelled it Charys though. I like it, but I can see how it'll probably be mispronounced all the time. This girl's dad told me it was Greek for Grace.
My first instinct was that it looked like the word "cars" misspelled. I think if you care about the pronunciation--CARE-iss v. CAR-iss v. cah-REESE, etc, you should avoid it. I think all of those pronounciations are pretty thought.
Re: Thoughts on this....
I think it's pretty for a girl name.
(pronounced Ca-reese, right?)
eta: is it 'riss' instead? I know I've seen this name on here before. I still think it's pretty, though possibly confusing for people at first.Baking Blog
It sounds like Care-is.

I would have pronounced it CAR-iss, but I think it is lovely.
It's the name of Catherine Zeta-Jones/Michael Douglas's daughter... but it's not one of those celeb names that everyone recognizes.
