The instructor in our cake decorating class said that there are people who try to create a printer for printing the decals/pictures on cakes using ink cartridges made of food coloring (they do sell these) in regular printers. She said this was a bad idea because when the printers are tested in factory, they are tested with regular ink. Therefore, they are 'contaminated.' Based on that, I would think putting food coloring into an airbrush machine would be the same as putting food coloring cartridges into a regular printer.
I have used an airbrush gun for decorating a cake (a friend has one), it was SO awesome!!! They sell the cans of 'airbrush' in the cake decorating aisle. I hope to own one in the future as well, SO much better than dying icing, ugh!
Re: NBR: Think I could convince DH to let me get a cake airbrush...
