Sorry I am late to this conversation but I wanted to comment on something you said in a previous post:

Ditto this.

I won't flame anyone that is turning their child forward facing after a year. That is your choice. However, if your child can move the seat, that is a BIG issue. If your seat is installed correctly your child should NOT be able to move it by pressing against the seat.

When we shake our car seat, the seat doesn't move, but the whole car moves.

This isn't necessarily true. I have had 4 certified carseat installers go over my carseat and it was installed by a certified carseat installer. You cannot wiggle the carseat without moving my Pilot and my daughter would push her legs soooo hard against the back seat that she would move the top portion of the carseat until it was pushing up against my seat, even though the bottom part wasn't budging at all. When I told my saftey inspector this (someone that strongly encourages 2 years to FF) he didn't even ask me about turning it around he automatically started doing it. So just some food for thought.

  • The top of the seat can move yes. Actually, the bottom of the seat can move up to 1" (side to side) as well. However, she never stated it was the top of the seat. The way she described it made it seem as though her child was moving it back and forth at the base.

  • I'm bored so I will get in on this. If the top of the carseat was moving then why not use the top tether?

While we still have Rylee RF, I don't really care if someone else FF or keeps RF, but either way if the seat moved over an inch on the bottom it should have been tightened down.

  • It was the top of the seat that just bounced when she kicked the backseat. I guess I have to include every detail in a post, huh? ;) I was just happy that she enjoyed being ff and didn't have to adjust hence the post was not intended to make a big deal. Guess I should've known better since I've been here for years. lol.
  • Because my car doesn't have the anchor for the top tether. She is at the height limit now so it was more than one issue. I had planned on waiting until 2 years and was very adamant about it, but after talking with my DH, the inspector, and my pediatrician they all convinced me other wise.
