We had E's 15 month well-baby checkup this afternoon and she got 2 shots. We got home at 4, 2 hours past her normal naptime, and I put her down for a nap. She's still sleeping and not really showing any signs of waking up. Should I wake her?
Happy sidenote: she finally weighs 20 pounds! 20 pounds 7 ounces to be exact! And is 32.25 inches tall. My little string bean.
Also, we're going to see a podiatrist...her feet really roll in when she walks and the doc just wants to get it checked out. I'm glad she referred us...I feel like they roll in more than other kids I've seen and if there is something we need to do to take care of it, I'm glad we're doing it now.
Re: My turn with the "how long should I let her sleep" question
If I were you I would wake her up now... play with her feed her and let her go to back to sleep if she is acting tired or fussy from the shot.
If jay sleeps too long at this time we end up awake with him all night!
Yup, she's sitting on my lap now, but that's interesting. Did he have dinner before he went to bed at 5? I'd be worried she'd wake up in the middle of the night hungry.
I have no idea how long she's been sleeping to advise you, but yay for having a 20 pounder!! Woo hoo!! Spencer was still just under 20 the other week when I took him in, but we've already switched him to FF in his carseat. And yes, happy to take on flames for anyone that wants to throw one! :-) It's the 2nd child thing. Carter was HUGE and I kept him RF until he was 16 months old, and then his peanut brother pretty much gets switched at one year.
I hope the feet thing isn't a big deal and gets resolved quickly and easily!
I have to say I like your parenting style. It seems no nonsense and confident, if you want to do something you do it. Anyway, no flames from me! I always like your take on things
I have no idea about the sleeping thing, but I wanted to say congrats on E. hitting 20 lbs! Yay for E!
As for the podiatrist, I had a similar roll when I was young and I was supposed to wear these horrible shoes. Of course I absolutely refused to wear them (I was about 5 or 6 at the time) which resulted in me having to deal with years of knee pain and physiotherapy. So yes, I definitely think you should deal with it now before E gets old enough to refuse the treatment!
Yay for 20 lbs!!! Go E!!
My BFF's girls both had the foot rolling in issue and they grew out of it - you wouldn't notice it now. They were under the care of a podiatrist and almost had to wear the special shoe thing but ended up not having to.
