My RE told me to keep taking it through the first trimester and then have my OB wean me off. Unfortunately, I've been too sick to take it. My RE had always told me that dehydration and Glucophage don't mix.
I took it until 12 weeks, at which point the peri my OB has me also seeing advised I get off. The peri's rationale was that there is only one study, and so the safety of continuing it during pregnancy is still unknown, and that if I have insulin resistance issues, there are better meds to use during pregnancy for treating it. Hence I have a 3-hr. glucose test at 18 weeks.

My former OB just started to wean me off of it (drop 500mg every 3 wks). I'm switching to a CNM next week so I'll run it by them.
The OB was concerned about it crossing the placenta and told me she'd give me something "safer" if my bloodwork starts getting wonky... but I've seen plenty of ladies on here who stayed on it their entire PG.
