Ear infection with tubes?

I know it can happen, but do they still need antibiotics for it.  DS has lots of waxy fluid coming out of his one ear.  Do I need to take him in?  I'm assuming it doesn't go away by itself even though it's draining, right?

  • We (luckily) haven't experienced this since tubes yet...but I believe you do need to take him in...I think they do the antibiotic drops plus an oral antibiotic...sorry =( ...hope he feels better soon

  • I have no answer for you, I just wanted to say Hudson was adorable!   He is getting so big.

  • Thanks Francisca!  He's such a great kid.  Is Harmon excited for his new baby brother and sister?  Are you still at the hospital?  Hope all is well, or as good as can be cooped up in a hospital room.

  • We went through this with DS. 6 ear infections after the tubes - he just got a new set last Wednesday. Yes you should take your DS in and they will give you ear drops. They usually don't give oral unless there is something else going on. Good luck!
