we'll see how long it lasts. Last time I went a year. I'm doing it to try and eat healthier (selfish) and also to save money on meat and of course to save a few chickens from getting slaughtered.
Over the past year, we've only been eating meat that was shot by my father (deer) or was raised by my sister (beef) and I'm ok with that, but I need to get back into eating better.
Re: going vegetarian again.
i did it for 7 years. no meat, no fish. then one day, someone roasted a turkey. i snuck into the fridge after everyone had gone to sleep and took one little taste. next thing i know, i'm shoveling it in. i felt a tap on my shoulder. totally busted by my (then)boyfriend.
i haven't been able to go back since.
omg lol. that is hilarious. You did good though for 7 years. I'm going to be lenient for holidays and maybe with the stuff we get from our farm, but its going to be on rare occasions and only if I know where it was grown. No more Tyson.
LOL @ this. Me too except it was a thick slice of pepperoni sticking out of a calzone that was my undoing. I hid it from my friends for months!!!
I would love to go back, I felt much better about myself and my place (dramatic, I know) in the world as a vegetarian plus I was skinny!!! I feel like I don't have the willpower to make it happen though.
Good Luck, Bre!
Good for you!
My daughter became vegetarian at age 11 and it was totally her idea. She said once she found out where meat came from, she always felt guilty eating it. Five years later, she's still going strong. She's actually vegan now. I give her a lot of credit.
We're raising Ben vegetarian and I'm *this* close to becoming one myself. I've given up everything but chicken and turkey...but just can't seem to bring myself to take the plunge.
I just finished Skinny *** yesterday (it's about going vegan).
I picked up our 1/2 pig on Monday night.
le sigh.
I feel like I am doomed to eating meat for all of eternity.
Good luck, Bre! It sounds like you can do it!!
