My mom just freaked on me

My mom is probably the most rational, even tempered person I have ever known.  I wish all the time that I was more like her.  Today, she snapped. 

I was just talking to her and casually mentioned that I am selling my maternity clothes.  She totally lost it and started CRYING saying that she can't believe I'm not going to have more kids, etc.  Um, I'm not even with my husband right now and very possibly will never be again.  Does she really want me to get KU?

This is just bugging me because, first of all, I have already struggled myself with the thought that I may never have another child because I always wanted two or three.  Plus the fact that my mom is acting like this, when she NEVER does, makes me feel really bad.

    my mom got a little unstable during my divorce (from 1st H) as well. Its a hard thing to deal with and probably harder since you have a child for her. You will have the opportunity to have many more children. Trust me. You are gorgeous in your avatar. When you are ready, you will have no problem.

    That is strange.  It's not like you couldn't get more maternity clothes if you ever do have another child.  It's not like you got your tubes tied.  Maybe something else is going on also?

    I would cut her a little slack, even though it stings a little.  She probably is just letting out some pent up emotion about your situation.  Your young, you may very well remarry and have more children some day.

    Ditto this.  She may be just having a hormonal sort of day as well, so it affected her more than it normally would.

    Thanks girls!  I'm sure she didn't mean to upset me, maybe she was just surprised.  I told her that it doesn't mean I'm never having more kids, just that if I do, I will need new clothes because these ones will be way out of style.  Hopefully she finds that comforting.

    I'm sorry, that sounds pretty crappy when you've already got a lot on your plate.  Just remember that selling your mat clothes doesn't exactly shut the door on having more kids, who knows what the future holds for you.
