3rd Trimester

How swollen is too swollen?

Probably a 1st tri-ish question, but I'm asking it anyway. From my knees down is so swollen. In the last three days it has gotten much worse than just regular pregnancy swelling. My legs get really tight and both my legs and feet start tingling (sp?). The last two mornings I could barely make a fist because my hands were so swollen. Is it something to call the dr over or should I just deal with it until my appt on the 27th?

Thanks, ladies!

  • I might call the doc if I was you. Help to calm your fears.

  • Since it's summer, it's probably just regular water retention and the heat etc. but if you are worried, call.  they may have you come in for a BP check and they'll definately tell you to drink more water and put your feet up above your heart.  I was swollen from 4 months on, still am, but not as bad since I"m out of work and not on my feet all day.  good luck!

  • I would definitely call my doc...could be just the summer heat, but it sounds like you are really swollen!  They will probably want to check your BP.  Good luck!
  • I just called my doc about swelling a couple of days ago.  He said that swelling was normal unless there is tingling too.  Based on that advice, I'd call.

     This..

I have had the same thing happen and I called my doc last night, thankfully mine is just in my feet.. You need to be safe rather then sorry b/c there could be other serious problems that have come up... (sorry, not tryign to scare you!)

they move my dr. appt to today and checked my bp/urine and asked alot of questions..

    Good luck!

  • Better safe than sorry. I would call your doc. Too much swelling in the hands isn't always a good sign - the legs/feet are a different story, though. Mine swelled like crazy with DS and have done the same with this one...so, it's just part of pregnancy/the heat/water retention. I would still call your doc, because it's better to let them know you're concerned.
