Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Bedtime Routine for 9 month old

We don't have much of a bedtime routine for our DD...dinner time varies, then playtime, then around 9, nursing in her room with quiet music and rocking until she falls asleep...We are trying to get her to bed earlier and hoping she sleeps more than 2 hrs at time by getting her on a good bedtime routine...anyone want to share theirs???

THANKS!

Re: Bedtime Routine for 9 month old

  • We start his supper at 6:00, then bath, book and bed and I sing two lullabies.  He is usually in bed by 6:30 -7:00 and sleeps until 6:00am.  We established the routine and then did the Sleep Easy Solution.  Now he goes down awake and puts himself to sleep within five minutes or so.  GL.

  • What is the Sleep Easy Solution?  If we could ever get her to fall asleep on her own, I would be in heaven!

  • 6 oz bottle around 7 and by 8:00 she is in bed. She does not last much longer than that. It may take a few nights of crying but you can set a bedtime. It's just not easy. It takes a lot of patience.
  • Forgot to put her bath at 6:30 or so
  • Dinner 6:30; Bath 7:00, Bottle and Bed by 7:30

We skip the bath some nights.

We don't do a big routince

  • I feed DS dinner at 5-5:30, then when DH gets home at 7, they play while I make dinner.  DH gives DS a bath, then bottle while listening to his lullaby cd, and sometimes rocking if he needs it.  He's usually down by 8 pm, and is out for the night until at least 6:30 am.

  • We do dinner at 5:45, bath at 6:15, lotion & into jammies, bottle, and in bed around 6:45.  She's usually out like a light within 5-10mins.  Sleeps through until around 7am.  GL!

  • 6:15-lotion massage, jammies
    6:30-bottle in the glider
6:45-put her down in her crib

She's usually out in less than 5 minutes.  She'll wake up, on occasion, once or sometimes twice during the night.

  • The Sleep Easy Solution is a book that's a modified ferber.  It involved weening from the bottle at night for the many feeds he was doing.  He ended up increasing his daily calories to account for the difference.  It worked really well for us.  It did involve some crying but by the 2nd night he only needed a few checks before he fell asleep.  His cries were definitely more frustrated than anything and now he uses his lovey to self soothe.  Since he started STTN he became a much happier baby during the day too.
  • There's also a Sleep Easy Solution DVD if you don't have time to read the book.  That's what I did although we didn't have to wean DD.  It was just about getting to sleep and STTN.  Here's our routine give or take 15 min:

    6pm Dinner

6:20pm Walk DD and the dog

6:45pm Bath, PJs and playtime (we bathe every other night)

7:30pm Bottle and Storytime (although she's not really taking the bottle anymore - maybe a couple ounces)

    8pm Down for the night
