QOTD: I know we've talked cribs in the past. Tell me about your plans for nursery decor. Are you doing a theme? Color scheme? etc.
Me: We are going to be moving DD into a new room and using the nursery as is... We painted it light butter yellow, and the room has a bit of a nursery rhyme theme. Bedding has Hey Diddle Diddle, Humpty Dumpty, and Hickory Dickory Dock, and we've got some Hey Diddle Diddle cartoon pics framed above the dresser. I think it's cute, but it'll definitely need updating once baby "outgrows" it. We're okay with that, though. I personally like baby stuff to look baby-ish.
Re: First in '10 Tuesday Check-In
I'm still desperately trying to get DH to let me paint the bottom half of the walls beige and do a chair rail. He LOVES the blue color (which I don't like) but we aren't finding out the gender and not that it's bad if a girl had a blue room but still, I'd like it not ALL to be blue.
We aren't really doing a "theme" persay. And honesly I need to put some more thought into it.
I fell in love with this bedding (see link below) so I am going to buy almost everything that goes with it. We will probably leave the walls white since DH doesn't want to paint.

QOTD: Here's the bedding we've picked out:
We're just going to paint the room light pink to match. We won't be doing a theme per se.
Well, DH and I picked the wall colors based off some older fabric I have. I was going to make curtains out of it for our bedroom but never got around to it. So we have the wall colors picked out (yellow and green). My mom didn't like the curtain fabric, so she offered to buy new fabric that was more childish. We went shopping last night and picked out 4 different fabrics and took them home to DH to look at. I think we might be making our own bedding set too. The patterns looked pretty simple. I just have to get my sewing machine working again.
So to answer I guess. We aren't going w/ a specific theme, we're just mixing and matching and going gender neutral.
We're doing white furniture - mostly because I like the gulliver crib from Ikea and I don't like the light wood color.
I'd like to look into a foresty-owl themed room... but I'm not HUGE on themes in general, so we won't go over the top. We (hopefully) learn the baby's gender TOMORROW (!!!!!), and then I'll decide if we want to purle-y girl owls or green/blue/brown boy owls. I don't want to do a pink nursery for a girl... I like turquoise and deep orange for a boy.
We're planning to keep the main decor very neutral - espresso furniture, cream on cream bedding set and tan on tan striped walls (same color, alternating flat and semi-gloss). Then, we'll addd pops of color with wall art, throw rug, etc.
Since we'll be selling before this LO turns one, I didn't want to do anything too specific for re-sale purposes.
big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
All is going great! I can hardly wait until next Monday when we find out the gender! Hope the rest of this week goes by fast!
I am thinking of going with a black and white room scheme- and then depending on the boy/ girl part- throw in some splashes of color around the room.
QOTD: I know we've talked cribs in the past. Tell me about your plans for nursery decor. Are you doing a theme? Color scheme? etc.
It all depends on the gender! I am planning on painting the walls a sort of warm tan/beige color, regardless of if LO is a boy or girl. I don't plan on doing a theme, but my mom and I are going to have a wonderful time picking out fabrics at the fabric store to make the bedding! I can't wait to find out! Only 3 weeks and two days! Once I figure out the color scheme of the bedding, then I'll be able to decorate, etc.
we are moving our 2.5 year old to a big sister room and keeping our nursery the way it is. Yellow walls-one has brown sponging on it. There is a dog border-hunting dogs think yellow, black and chocolate labs. we have a big photo of a golden retriever on the wall (we own a golden) and also a couple pics of our own dogs that we had blown up. curtains are yellow and beige/brown that my mom made. very nice neutral room.
so basically we did a dog/puppy themed room and it worked very well for us.
i am having so much fun doing our daughters room-that in a few years i know I will have fun redoing the nursery!! dd room is going to be pink and light lime on the walls with a border on two walls that incorporates those colors as well as red, yellow etc. border has butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. curtains in the "big sister room" will be lime green. her bedding is stripped with all the above mentioned colors. so a very bright, cheery, girly room!!! can't wait to paint on Thursday when my mom is here!!!!
I should be getting this bedding in the mail on Thursday, I'm supper excited!! https://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=110554&RN=7011
I don't know about paint yet but will be picking up some paint samples as soon as I get it in the mail.
If we have a girl I am going to do a purple/lavendar colored nursery with white flowers. I'm debating on the color of the furniture. I'm not sure if I am going to do white or a light natrual wood.
If we have another boy I am considering moving DS into the spare bedroom and decorating a little boy room for him and giving the new baby boy DS's old nursery. It is decorated in blue stripes and a moon and stars theme with cherry nursery furniture.
We will be doing a Classic Pooh themed nursery with this bedding:

The plan right now is to paint the walls light green (something similar to the green in the background of the bedding). My mom already found some cute fabric for curtains. That is probably all the theme we will do besides a wall print. I will probably wait until after we find out the gender on delievery day to get the rest of the accessories so they can be a little more gender specific.
~ Miscarry at 8 weeks with D&C in May 2011 (low progesterone).
~ Had a healthy baby girl in June 2012 via C-Section (on prometrium to sustain).
~ Surprise pregnancy at age 40! Baby boy due April 26, 2021 (took prometrium to sustain once pregnancy was confirmed, 3rd C-Section planned).
Big ultra sound tomarrow so exctied.
QOTD: We are painting the room a light green and putting up selfs with old style teddy bears and animals we got from DH's grandma. So I guess that is a little bit of a theme.
QOTD:
We're doing a aqua and purple color scheme. We are going to use a fairy theme with the bedding, curtains and accessories.
We definitely aren't doing a theme. But will be doing a chair rail and pink and grey if its a girl and some variation of blue and brown if its a boy!
Hope everyone is feeling well!
Hi everyone!
We find out the sex tomorrow, so we will have a better idea of what kind of decor we are doing then. All we know now is that the walls will be pink or blue.
Hi, Jan mommies! For the nursery, we have to decide if we're having them share a room. If they're not, DD will stay in her room and DC #2 will do in the other bedroom we have upstairs. We have neutral grays in all of the rooms, so we won't need to paint or anything. Whether they're in the same room or not, any extra furniture will be white. It's what we have for DD and I really like it with the white shutter blinds we have in the rooms. We have blues and greens in DD' room which I also like. I do know that I want to stay away from any more sheep bedding. There are sheep on DD's bedding and they're cute, but it would be overkill to have more.
Hopefully we'll get this all settled in the next couple of months
We are having a boy! Due January 8th. We are decorating with light greens/browns/blues. It's Target ABC/123/animal mix-n-match bedding. Only have the crib and changing table/dresser up. Looking to get a glider.
