Re: XP: if you had subchorionic hemorrage

  • I had one in my first trimester and it was causing bleeding for me as well.  It is basically a hemorrage behind the placenta (in my case) that was causing it to separate from the uterine wall.  Most of the time they will resolve on their own and disappear or shrink to where they don't cause further issues.  She needs to take it easy.  I was put on bedrest for a week until it resolved.

  • I did with DD. Ditto the bleeding from it, and taking it easy. I was put on pelvic rest until 12 weeks.

Same for my BFF when she was pregnant w/ DD #2.

  • Mine started around 13 weeks and bled until about 27 weeks. I was on bedrest twice- each time for a week. The thing your SIL wants to watch for is a heartbeat and the heartrate. It took 3 trips to the ER and consults with 5 OBs before they figured out that I wasn't miscarrying. I hope this turns out well for your SIL!
  • i had this happen ,and it resolved on its own with no complications. I was told to take it easy for a few days... no strict bed rest though

I ahd one with this pregnancy at about 8w or so.  It was definitely more than spotting - there was enough blood to pool in spots on the toilet paper.  Called the OB and got in for an ultrasound that day. They diagnosed the subchorionic hemorrhage and said there might be more bleeding/spotting, but they were not concerned. It's very common, blah, blah.  As it happened, I had barely any more spotting and things were looking good (hemorrhage was smaller/gone) at the 1-week follow up.

So, no guarantees, of course, but this does happen a lot. It is very scary, though, for sure.

  • I had a large one (according to the doc) at 12 weeks that caused some bleeding.  I was told to take it very easy and pelvic rest.  I had to get ultrasounds every two weeks for a while to keep an eye on it.  It eventually resolved itself but I can't remember when.
