Anyone have their
baby measuring big and they do not have GD (so not related there). Not
sure how big exactly, am having another growth ultrasound next week but
wanted to hear experiences - what it may mean?
Well, we're measuring big too - no GD. ?He's been measuring big since BR. ?Doc thinks that it is because of bed rest - since I've been resting, he doesn't have to compete with my activities for energy to grow. ?I don't eat any more or different from before BR - so it isnt the food. ?When I hit 33/34 weeks, most of his organs were already measuring 37+ weeks at 95% percentile. ?On top of reaching 34 weeks to begin with, we were given the added relief of thinking that should be go pre-term, that most of his development has already reached where they need to be. ?
So, I say it's a good thing. ?And Congrats, girl! ?That little baby is staying in and developing very nicely! ?:)
I personally think my due date is off by 6 days. They calculated it with the day of my last period, but did not take into consideration that I only had 3 week cycles. Maybe TMI, but we had sex 2 days after my period ended and then all three of us got sick so I know that is when we conceived Lauren.... so I ovulated REALLY early... which made me show up as pregnant on a home test about the time the doc office thinks I was ovulating... which I have tried to explain to them but they do not change the EDD. So that is part of the reason I think she is measuring big - then I think she is a little big on top of that but he only used the tape measure thing today - he said we will not worry (would not even tell me how far ahead) and see what the growth scan says next week.
But the BR theory makes sense to me as well. I have been thinking about having the largest baby girl ever, and what extremes my children will be....
On another note, my doc just called to let me know that my urine is STILL below 300. I am amazed. I was just telling my husband before the phone rang that I really believe we are going to bring a baby home with us this time!
How are you?? No progress today?? Thinking maybe you and Andrea would have had babies on the same day (I am thinking her child may have been born after midnight)... I cannot wait to hear from her!
DS measured big from the big u/s on. The doctor even made the (not funny!) comment when we decided not to induce at 37 weeks that "we're going to get to 40 weeks and this baby is going to be too big to deliver vaginally."
I think he just measured big. He was 8lbs 7oz. Neither DH or myself is tiny - we're both slightly above average height. *shrug*
And HOORAY for bringing home a baby with you this time! HOORAY! HOORAY!!!!!!!
My baby is measuring big....at least at 29 wks it was. ?It was measuring 33-34 wks...yikes!! ?I don't think it means much more than you may possibly have a large baby at birth. ?My dr said if it continues to grow like this & they estimate it to be over 11 lbs I have to get c-section. ?GL
Baby Boy born still on March 10, 2008 at 21 wks 2 days : (

11 lbs!!! Holy moly! I am having a c-section again so at least I do ont need to worry about a vag delivery with a big girl!!! My hubs was 10.5 lbs. at birth. I was under 6.
Our little one has been measuring big since 24 weeks and it hasn't been GD related. As we need to be induced anyways my doc has said that we'll deliver when I'm ready to go. He says he's trying to avoid an unnecessary c-section but as our little one needs to stay inside until his lungs have developed (if possible) we don't know what will happen.
We have our next ultrasound on Wednesday to measure how large he is and I'm a little afraid. Hopefully he's slowed his growth just a little bit!
Last pg I did not have GD. DD measured big by 2-3 weeks. I had 2 extra anatomy scans because of it. Her measuring big didn't mean diddly-squat.
At 36 weeks I was told she wighted 9.5lbs. At over 38 weeks she was born at 8lb 1oz. I have zero faith in their ability to guess sizes. DD was long and had a decent sized head, those are the measurements they use to guess size.
Yep. I did not have GD (in fact, I had severe hyperemesis for the duration of my pregnancy lol) and my son was consistently measuring around 3 weeks ahead both fundally and via u/s. At 37 weeks, I measured 42. We did a growth u/s and he was measuring 9lbs 2oz at 37 weeks. If I did not go into labor on my own before 39 weeks, and he was measuring larger still, we were going to have a c/s at 40 weeks. My water broke at 38 weeks, and my son was still floating and I was dilated 1 cm. We decided to have the c/s and he was born weighing 9lbs12oz, with a huge head like his mama lol.
Re: XP: Measuring big but not GD related.
Oh wow - Lauren is measuring big? ?:D
