I thought DD was ready for some puffs as she's been trying to "gum" her purees lately. I tried one before I gave one to DD and I didn't think they dissolved that well. So I gave her one to see how she'd do and she gums it once and then swallows it and gags, kinda chokes on it. So I don't think she's ready & I'm afraid to try them again. I don't want her to choke on them. Has this happened to anyone else?
Re: Puffs & gagging/choking on them
When I introduced the puffs, I let her bite little pieces off, and held it so she wouldn't take the whole thing. Once I felt like she knew to chew it, I gave her the whole puff. Try again, and let her nibble until you feel comfortable with the whole thing.
Hope this helps!
I see it as part of the learning process, to be honest. It's an ENTIRELY new texture and my DS did the same thing. It would be on the tip of his tongue, and he's gag. But I kept giving them to him and eventually he got to a point wehre he tries to jam 4 in his mouth at a time.
As quickly as they start to dissolve, I wasn't worried about choking.
ETA: I also broke smaller pieces off too in order to help him get used to them.
