level 2 U/S to screen for closed cranial sutures?

i'm not sure if anyone else is dealing with this, but my DH has a family history of craniosynostosis and we are having a level 2 U/S done at 12 weeks to screen for it. All my research has said that prenantal MRI is the way they normally screem for it, so i was just wondering if anyone else has had an U/S for it, and if so was it accurate. i'm just worried that we will go in and they will say the baby is fine and then when he is born he'll still have it

TIA

Re: level 2 U/S to screen for closed cranial sutures?

  • My DH was born with craniosynostosis, and no additional testing was recommended for us. At the 18-20 week U/S they will look for signs. MRIs are rarely done as primary screening because of the radiation. If they see anything suspicious in your U/S they may consider it. The genetics really depend on the type and family history. Good luck!
