Bedrest or blood transfusion?

So.. I chose bedrest. 

Apparently my blood levels are low.  The doc said " you should be feeling alot worse than you look."  Apparently my body is compensating very well but I could pass out any moment.  So I am here for another night to see if my levels go up.  When he asked me will I stay in bed.  I said " I have a newborn baby.. how am I suppose to do that?"  Reply " yah.. you are staying in the hospital for the night.."

At least I am honest..

    I lost a lot of blood during my c/s and my hgb levels tanked. I also opted for bedrest and was put on iron pills also. I was in the hospital for 5 days and even then still felt weak for a whil after that.

    Definately take your time when you get up out of bed and use anything for support, the wall, chairs, other people, etc.

    ya 3 months of iron pills and stool softners. 

    My grandma had a blood transfusion and got some weird hepatitis or something.  Her ankles were raw and never healed.  It ate the first layer of skin on her ankles.  I used to wrap her legs every night before bed because it got so bad.

    Sorry that sucks.  I had a cs which resulted in a hematoma on my uterus and cervix.  Apparently it's pretty rare but my levels dropped.  The night of her birth I got up for the first time to the bathroom and lost consciousness.  I kept coming in and out.  I  came to in the bed to find the emergency response team at the bedside with defribrillators in hand.  I ended up having to get 3 units of blood and stayed 4 nights, 5 days in the hospital.  My recovery was terrible.  So word to the wise....listen to the Dr., take it easy and if you have to get up, make sure someone's with you to help.

    Same her - lots of blood loss - 10% drop in hematocrit into transfusion range. I chose bedrest too. I felt so much better after just a few days. GL!

    Ooh, forgot to mention - watch your milk. Apparentlt this can slow your milk coming in and damage supply. We had to supplement starting early on. Boo :(

    i am having this now!  i haven't even got much choloustrum.  sigh.  i had a vague delivery.  it seems eeryone else had a c/s?
