DS has a hard time taking water from a bottle, even sugar water. The doctor said to add karo syrup to his formula and the only kind the store had was karo dark corn syrup. Now I am seeing via google that karo isn't good to give infants. Any ideas?
TIA!

Re: What do you do for constipation?
Our pedi told us to do this, and it worked pretty well.
Take a Qtip with some diaper creme, or vaseline on the end.
Gently insert in to his rectum, and move around a little (like not farther than the head of the qtip)
She told me that it kind of reminds them to poop..... It worked immediately for us after 8 days of no poop so watch out!!!
If that is not doing it, you can use glycerin supps. We got them at the pharm, and I cut one in half longwise because I was worried about how thick it was.
Sorry for a gross answer, but the things we do as parents!

we were doing 1 oz of water w 2 tsp of white grape juice and used the medicine dropper and he sucked it out
if that didn't work they suggested the rectal thermometer trick
GL!
our ped had us put a tsp of karo (dark worked better) in his bottles (5oz). before that we tried 1-3tsp of prune juice in his bottles, but that stopped working. the rectal stimulation or warm bath never worked for us.
good luck!
i am a total constipation pro!! haha. both of my guys had serious issues, and eventually had to be put on daily miralax.
until then though, we tried karo syrup (which an on call doc told us to do, but my pedi was not very happy about..its kind of old school, and not the safest), we also tried milk of magnesia..but it didn't help that much
for us when they were wee ones..the best thing was the bicycling the legs and the rectal stimulation with the thermometer. my doc also recommended prune juice, but we never did it.
one thing i learned was that even though it seemed as though they were straining all the time, much of that was gas..the doc wouldn't even get concerned unless it had been over 72 hours, but they were FF...not sure if you FF or BF
good luck! it sucks

My pedi says to worry if it's been more than 5 days or if the bm is hard.
He said to do 1 oz of water and 1 oz of either baby apple-prune juice or apple juice. He also said I could do the karo. FWIW, the karo worked almost immediately and the apple juice worked better than the apple-prune.
GL!!
