My Birth Story

But here's a brief breakdown:

The good ? induction was NOT terrible and I progressed quickly.

The bad ? labor pre-epidural made me nauseous; needed oxygen towards the very end.

The ugly ? 4th degree tear to my rectum. Bad. VERY bad. I'm in a lot of pain.

The BEST ? it was ALL worth it for my precious son.

What a story, Robyn! You had me all the way up to the 4th degree tear! LOL....you poor thing. I am sure you're in good hands and will heal just fine...and I'm sure its all a distant memory now that you have Aaron in your arms.

Wow, it doesn't sound too bad until you got to the tear part. Ouch! I hope that recovery isn't as bad as predicted and I hope you have a huge supply of stool softeners. Enjoy your little boy, he'll make the pain easier to bear.

Robyn, I read your birth story and saw the pics. (OUCH for the 4th degree tear!) You and DH are absolutely GLOWING with happiness over that healthy beautiful boy. I am so thrilled for you both!! Congrats!!

Honestly until my doctor told me that I'd torn so badly, the labor & delivery went really well. My husband and nurse were so impressed with me?and my speedy progress.

My doctor said I tore vaginally (not as badly) and then she did an episiotomy but she didn't realize my rectum had been so badly damaged until she began stitching. It took a while, since she had another patient there and the other baby was in distress so she took care of that baby before finishing with me.

I'm online now because I just ate.

And the best part of the hospital where I am: My mom's close friend is a baby nurse here. So Lois (family friend) is my son's nurse today! And I'm getting special treatment. The biggest room, lots of freebies. It's good to "know someone". Wink

Hooray! Awesome story Robyn! Sorry to hear about the 4th degree tear though. Mine was only a 3rd degree and my a$$ still hurts, so I can't even imagine how sore you must be.

At least you've got that precious boy to remind you that it was all worth it. Just follow doctor's orders and take it easy.

And remember that the squirt bottle and Tuck's pads are your friends Wink

Congratulations Robyn! So glad the delivery went relatively well, even with the induction. 9 pounds is one large boy, no wonder you tore. Sorry about that, I hope it heals soon! Your son is beautiful. Enjoy the little miracle!

Congratulations Robyn! I feel for you about your tear. Mine was only a 2nd degree & I was miserable. The first poop was terrifying, actually the first few were. You are right though, all worth it. Aaron is a big boy. Did you know he was going to be that big?

Hope you heal quickly & keep taking the stool softeners & if you are miserable just look at your baby.

Congratulations Robyn! So glad to hear that you delivered a healthy son. Take your meds, eat tons of Raisin bran..and prunes. I had a second degree and like fiazo, I was miserable and so scared to go to the bathroom. Rest as much as you can (when you can) and follow your doctor's orders. You will recover before you know it.?

Congrats Mom. Wow... you must be a tough cookie. I am terrified of tearing and 4th degree hasn't even crossed my mind til now. Use every means available to you to help ease the discomfort. At my childbirth class yesterday they mentioned that if you carefully open the seal between the outer shell and inside of a newborn diaper, you can place ice chips between the liner and the shell and it makes for a great ice pack for tears. I obviously haven't tried it, but the instructor said that the nurses at the hospital where I am delivering often do that to help keep mom's with bad tears comfortable. Anyway, I just thought I would pass that tidbit along. Hope you are feeling like your old self soon enough. Enjoy your new life with Aaron!
