NBR: What takes you cat/dog/bird/fish from common pet to furbaby?

I just got done washing my furbaby and I realized just how much I love her, she is so spoiled. she loves seriously warm water otherwise she shivers and is unhappy during her bath. once she is out of the bath, she gets a nice blow dry and she always buries her little face in my crotch/under bump area to protect her face from the blow-dryer. But she LOVES feeling pretty. She has a few little practical outfits like a rain coat and a sweater, I did buy her a sun dress, but that was more for fun not for everyday. 

I realize that she is more than just a dog to me, she is my little furbaby, she is the first major thing my DH and I got together. We love her and treat her like our child, I can't wait for our LO to be born so that way she can have her little brother to play with. 

what makes my doggy go from pet to furbaby is that when I have a bad day, or need to cry, she just lays with me and licks away the tears, and when I look into her eyes I know she loves me unconditionally and that no matter what she always will.  

I just really want to know what takes your  pet be it a dog, cat, fish, bird some form of reptile. What makes your pet a furbaby?

    I think it's the unconditional love that furbabies give. They know when you are down, upset, happy, mad, etc... and they love you anyway, especially dogs. They are so loyal and loving. I can't wait for Baby Cooper to meet his brothers and sisters!!!!

    We treated our furbabies as such the minute we got them.  They were our puppies, and now our doggies.  They love us unconditionally....DH especially.  It is just so sweet the way they love us, and get so excited when we wake up to let them out or come home.  Our babies are litter mates as well, and it is so sweet how they love each other!

    Its just that they always love you, no matter what. My furbaby is such a little suck and i love him SO SO SOOOOO much. He is my baby, for now. Its really really sad that i think i will love him just as much as my baby.

    We have 3 furbabies...and lately when I think about how much I love them I wonder how much love/emotion I will feel for our little boy (not that I don't already love him but actually holding him and getting to know him)...***small tear rolls down my cheek*** Maybe its the hormones :O
