My guy is on an East Coast tour for 3 weeks, wont be home until september. I want to go visit when he stops in Boston for the last week to visit family & I happen to O on the 26th during that Boston week.
I'm ready to fly across the country but I have shittty family who wont watch my dogs (and sucked the whole MC, sister actually said "we just don't understand why your not healing yet" before I even had my D&C!). I have two amazing pups, a yorkie & a rat terrier/chi mix. I looked into boarding but it sucks for small dogs cause they lock them in a cage from 6pm-9am... my dogs cannot hold their little pee/poos that long & they leave them in a cement inclosure all day. I also called airlines that allow you to bring a pet but will only let me bring both if I pay $200 pet charge per way & buy an extra seat both ways, thats an extra $850 on top of my flight!?
My dogs are my babies, I love them more than I love my family most of the time! I'm not willing to skimp on their care or happiness. I just don't understand why its such a hassle.
Anyone have any ideas or advice??
Re: sad & frustrated vent
If I lived remotely close to you, I'd watch them for you.
Are there any friends in town that can watch them or anything? In my town, there are a few places where they have 24-hour care. Someone literaly stays for a 3rd shift to make sure the dogs aren't alone. I hear ya on dogs are family.
I live off the 163 in the Birdland area, so I am not super close, but in the same area. I have had luck with finding a petsitter on Craigslist who was reasonable and they actually come to your house and watch your dogs, or take them to their home. I would love to offer, but we are moving that weekend and I have had to pawn my three dogs off on my SIL so that we can move without losing any of them while the doors are open. I hope you find a way to be with your man!! Good luck!
Coworker? Neighbor? Maybe call your vet to see if they have a list of people who do petsitting that they trust???
Craigslist -- never thought of that! Good idea!!!
totally agreed - look for a responsible high schooler or college kid that wants to make a few extra $$ before school starts - just tell them to stop by once or twice a day, neighbors usually work best. i hope it works out!!!!!!
I'll def check them out...?
As far as "check-ins" it's not really an option, They're tiny dogs, they need to be let out often & someone would need to stay overnight.
It's funny too cause it would be a dream job for me when I was like 18. 3 bedroom house w/ spa & pool, pool table, full liquor cabinet, and a couple new audi's, PARTY!
I actually think I might just bring them, I want their company anyway.?
