What would you do?

An aquintance and I are due on the same exact date. My Mom and best friends are planning my shower and chose the same date as her shower. I was informed of her shower date the same week they informed me of mine. I feel really bad although we wont be inviting the same people but she asked me to save the date for hers because she wants me there. For my Mom and friends this is the only available date seeing as they have halloween parties and birthday parties. November we are having DD's party since her bday is 4 days after my due date. Should I just explain this to her? or somehow reschedule mine?

    Tell her yours was planned as a surprise party, but you found out that date and it happens to be the same as hers.  Tell her the invites went out, but that you'd love to meet the baby once he/she comes.

    If it was me, I would probably change mine. I would imagine there is some other time that would fit for people. And I would hate to make my friend feel bad that I can't make it to hers or worse- make her feel compelled to change her date. But that's just me. Do what works best for you and your family!

    DON'T change the date. I would think your Mom and friends (Plural) would outrule ONE acquantance as far as who you want to be there. That would be an easy decision for me.

    Wait, this is just an acquaintance? How important is it to you to be there for her? THAT makes a diff. I thought it was a FRIEND.

    I wouldn't reschedule... your mom and best friends being at your shower is probably more important than your being at your acquaintance's shower. I'd send a gift though...

    No way would I change the date. I think your own baby shower is a perfectly fine reason of why you can't go to hers - especially since you're not the one throwing it!! If she's not a very close friend or family member, then leave the plans as-is. She should certainly understand!
