2nd Trimester

And I thought I was lazy...

This is just a little vent about my neighbors lol.

I live in a townhouse with other adjoining townhouses... We each have our own seperate garbage cans like a normal neighborhood. Well, my FI goes through food like nobody's business so we accumulate a lot of trash. I am able to take my garbage can out every week and drag it up the 15ft back to my house. My neighbors cannot. So, what do they do??? Use my trash can. I have caught them so many times and tell them to slowly back away from my trash can. They can walk the 5 ft from their house to my trashcan, but can't walk the 15ft to the road to claim theirs.

Lately, I've been taking their trash and putting it back beside their door and now have a sign up saying "Not a communal trash can, get your own."

Last week they filled my trash can up so much that it was overflowing. I knocked on their door and told the woman that lives next door (well, she's my age) to please take my trashcan to the road because it was too heavy for me to doat 6 1/2 months pregnant and she told me that was all MY trash.

Yes, we do usually fill up our trash can, but not this week because we were on vacation. What a biitch.

I don't know what to do. I just needed to vent to someone lol. FI thinks I should just throw the trash all over their yard everytime I see them put their trash in our bin... but I don't like to litter lol.

  • Do you have a garage or somplace you can stick your tracsh can?  Or, my aunt had this problem and drilled a little hole to stick a materlock through.  That definately fixed it.

  • As a townhouse community don't you have a board? ?Or HOAs? ?Can't you formally report them somehow? ?And, I hate littering as well, like go out of my way to pick stuff up hate to litter. ?

If worse comes to worse, I'd dump it on their lawn. ?No question about it.?

  • My pregnancy hormones would get the better of me and I would chuck their trash all over their freaking lawn!!!
  • That would get on my nerves!  What can you do though besides what you've already done?  Dump their trash right in front of their door next time!  Wink
  • I would remove their trash bags from your can and put them on their porch and hopes that an animal get into it so they come over to their trash everywhere.

Can you maybe lock your garbage cans up in your garage?

I wish I had a garage... but the lock idea sounds good.

  • I would do 2 things.

1.) Next time they did it I would put their garbage bags on their front step.

2.) I would keep my cans in the garage or locked and only put the cans out or unlock right before the weekly scheduled garbage pick-up.

It's a private renter... unfortunately so I can complain all I want but it won't fix anything.

  • I love the lock idea. ?Definitely put a chain and pad lock on the lid so they cant open your trash can. Is there somewhere else you could move your trash can to? ?Like near your door or some place else. I have a similar problem with my neighbors letting their dogs crap in my backyard and not picking it up. ?I put up signs and everything but they still do it. ?So now every time I find crap in my yard I pick it up and put it right outside their doorsteps so when they open their doors they will step in it.?

Lol. I have to do the same thing with other people's dogs. And we even have a rule about picking up the dog's crap or we will be fined. Apparently, I'm the only one who doesn't want to pay for my dog's shiit.

  • I will gladly send you the racoon that keeps hiding in our dumpster and jumping out at DH every time he goes to put the trash in it.  I bet your neighbor would think twice about opening your garbage can after that!
  • You can actually call the police if they are using your trash can. It might be kind of gross, but if you could get some proof (bill, letter,...) out of the trash-  it would be better.
