table food feeders come in!

No, I am not going to ask what you are feeding your kids! I think we have all seen enough of that one!

I want to know if it takes your LO forever to eat? When I give DS table food, it takes him at least a 1/2 hour to eat. Plus, he is so stinkin' impatient. He starts screaming while chewing and kicking his feet b/c he wants more in his mouth (or he wants you to have the food right there and ready to go in his mouth right when he swallows!).

Also, he has no problem picking up food (he had that down since 7 months), but if I give him table food, he usually won't pick it up and put it in his mouth. He will pick up puffs, cheerios, crackers, etc. on his own though. I can only get him to actually eat the table food if I feed it to him. Anyone else have that problem?

  • If there is food on the tray she is shoving it in. She just started getting distracted with other things so I will pop things in her mouth to keep the process going. But our dinner takes about 45m so no big deal, she can eat as long as it takes her. We just sit and talk.

  • Yeah, it takes DS awhile to eat sometimes, but usually he is done in 10 minutes.  Have you tried giving him easier food to pick up?  With some foods I find I have to cut it up a little bigger and only put a couple on the tray at a time so he has an easier time with it.  Maybe he doesn't like the feel of wet foods?  Could you try drying off the food a little so it isn't wet?

I'm just thinking along the lines of blueberries or beans if they are rinsed out they might feel mushy where bread/crackers/Puffs are drier feeling...

I dunno, DS attacks anything I put on his tray!

  • It takes DD about 30 minutes to eat her dinner too. She eats anything I put on her tray though. I actually have to put a few pieces on hr tray at a time so she doesn't put too much in her mouth and choke.
