I had been craving Chinese food for a few days, so we went out and got some tonight. I was thinking that we always run out of that pink sauce that they serve with Mar Far chicken and such because DH and I both love it. I looked it up to see if I could whip up some extra, and I found a ton of articles that said pregnant women should avoid the pink sauce, because it often contains raw egg (which is scary, because it's just sitting out in a squirt bottle on every table at my local Chinese place).
Anyway, take this for what it's worth, but I would have had no idea if I hadn't tried to make the sauce myself!

Really though, wouldn't a restaurant have been shut down by the health department if their sauce that sat on the table all day really contained raw eggs?
Not necessarily.
True. But one of the articles that I read was from the local health department discussing this issue. So, it makes me feel a *little* better that they are at least aware of it.
Maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better since I didn't realize there were raw eggs in the sauce until I had eaten a ton of it.
I think it's probably ok. Maybe the sauce is cooked?
I know I wouldn't eat fresh made Caesar salad dressing but some stuff with raw eggs is okay because it's pasteurized.
Either way I still want chinese food!!!
