P.S. re: rental cars

Apparently because car sales are down, car rentals are way up. So if you are planning on renting a car, do it far in advance because the agencies are running out of cars (especially at the airports) and also, its very expensive right now to rent.

Last night, i could not find a rental out of LGA. I tried all of the surrounding rental agencies, and finally found a one day rental for $100 for a subcompact. I realize its NYC and their rates are always the highest, but I still think that is absurd.

This is good to know if you or your spouse does a lot of business travel.

that's insane. I could not find a deal in Detroit for last week - $44/day. I got $13/day on priceline in Minneapolis later this month though...

Yeah - we just got $15 on a rental car in Houston for a wedding coming up. We used priceline as well.

It's insane, but sounds about right for NYC. That's what it costs us every time we rent a car there. It's robbery.

Thanks Jody. But Alamo is sold out in NYC on that date and no location at the airport. They directed me over to National and they are sold out as well.
