Does anyone know which week they usually schedule you for the 3D/4D scan? I can contact my Dr. office but wanted to see if any of you were aware of the time frame. Thanks!
We had one at our big 20w u/s, and that's standard practice at the clinic we go to. I would love to get another one later on (around 30 weeks) to see how she's changed! But I don't think that's going to happen...

We actually received one at 13 weeks during the NT scan. We had no idea the office did this, but the nurse just flipped a switch. She was trying to view the sex of the baby and told us that she would try in 3D. She even printed pictures for us. I love my office. We will get another one at our big 20 week screening with the doctor again.
We are also going to a special clinic in the area for our family. This clinic allows you to invite up to 15 guests to sit in a viewing area. The viewing area has couches and plasma TV's for viewing. They do a 15 minute peek at the baby and then give you package of all sorts of things. Our insurance does not cover this sort of thing, so it will be out of pocket.
I'd recommend getting it between 24-30 weeks at the latest because the bigger they get they get all crammed up and it's harder and harder to see things if you wait... just my experience. But like the pp's said it's not standard at most practices.

depends on the office. at my 12 wk apt my dr did one, just because. i think where they have the equipment they like to use it, it's all part of the same U/S machine so it's not like I have to go to a different room or anything. I know friends that didn't use my doc did have the 3d/4d but it was a scheduled thing and I don't think they had them until after 30 wks. again i think it depends on the doc.
Re: 3D/4D Scan
Most Drs offices don't do them and insurance usually won't cover it.
I had to go to an elective u/s place for mine. The best time to get it done is between 27-30 weeks.
