2nd Trimester

vent

So, my parents are divorced...and my mom is going to buy my crib and my dad and stepmom are buying my two dressers.  So, I had to write to my dad and see if he was actually buying them.  Well, he sent me an e-mail back saying he isn't going to be warm and fuzzy until the end of August and why do I need to order them so early.  Early?  I am 25 weeks, it won't even be here until I'm at least 32 weeks.  I don't think it is early..do you?  I started crying from his e-mail...it just sounded harsh..Ugg!  ok, vent over...

But am I early? or behind with this nursery?  I told him most people have it ordered b4 25 weeks.

Re: vent

  • what does he mean he's not going to be warm and fuzzy until the end of august?

    WTH?? Tongue Tied

Not sure if you're behind, but I haven't ordered any of my furniture either. DH's step dad is going to buy the crib for us...and I'm not sure when I'm getting that.

  • I actually had mine in hand and put together before then.  Just stress the importance of making sure that everything is ready if your LO was to come early.  Or see if you can buy it and then he just pay you back come the end of August when he IS "feeling warm and fuzzy".
  • What does he mean he's not going to be "warm and fuzzy" until the end of august????
  • I would say you are right on target. Can you let him know that most nursery furniture has a 6-ish week processing time and that is why you are trying to get this done sooner?

  • it's early, but I'm like you..I want everything ready to go.  After you have the shower & get all the baby clothes washed up,  you need a place to put them!  I don't understand why people feel the need to make us feel like we are the crazy ones for wanting to be prepared!!! What happens if you go into early labor or put on bed rest?  Sorry you dad hurt your feelings.  I hope you feel better!
  •   Thanks!  I was mad at him... I just think I need to order it and get the $ back.  He did promise me...I guess he wanted me to order it in November..lol

  • I would explain why you want it early (he might not realize how long this stuff can take to show up).  Plus, you can tell him that if any pieces are scratched or anything, you'd like extra time to return them and get new ones.

Either way, they're dressers.  Worst case is that you'd stack clothes in a tote bin for a few weeks if they're not on time.  I wouldn't push him too hard, or stress too much about this either.
