2nd Trimester

Football game at 37 weeks

What do you guys think?

DH and I are thinking of going to a college football game, but I would be 37 weeks pregnant.  It will be cooler by that time, so I'm not as worried about the heat, but I'm wondering if it would be too uncomfortable to go to a game.

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on this since I've never been pregnant before and I'm not sure how I'll feel.

  • Can you get to the bathroom quickly and easily from where you will be seated? You might be spending a LOT of time there. Also, how close is the stadium to the hospital in case you go into labor while there?

  • This is the one time I think something might be coming in between football & I-this baby girl!!! I am hesistant to go to some of the away games now in case something happens. Will you be close to your hospital since you'll be close to the due date?

  • Not sure about the bathroom, but the stadium is closer to the hospital than our house is.
  • I would definitely go if the stadium is near the hospital.  It may be uncomfortable to sit the whole game (or in my case at Gator games stand the whole game) but as long as you can move around and have some place to sit down I think you'd be fine.
  • With my first pg, my husband and I went to a college football game.  I can't remember the exact number of weeks pg, but I was in my 3rd tri.  My experience was that the pregame was enjoyable, the weather was nice, and I didn't mind the long walk from the car to the stadium.  But once the game started, we were sitting like sardines, the noise was so loud that my baby kept moving and kicking, and there wasn't any air flow, so I started to get a little light-headed and dizzy.  I spent a lot of the time watching the game on the tv monitors in the food area.  I wouldn't say it was a bad time, but I am not sure I would do it again.

  • Also, will you have to walk up lots of steps, do the seats have backs to lean on or are they bench style seating?

If the seats are general admission I would probably skip it or go really early to get a good location for you.  If you can buy reserved seating then you can make sure you won't be walking up/down a ton of stairs, near a bathroom, and not in the middle of the row.

  • I think it depends on what team you are going to see and who they are playing.  LOL

  • I have season college football tickets I don't plan on being able to attend games after around 34 weeks and the games are in the city I live in.

    It might be pushing it.

OMG - I could have totally written this post.  I plan on double checking with the dr when its a little closer...but I am going.  You can actually see the hospital from where we are going to be, and actually would be easier for me to get there then if I was at our house.  I really wanted to go to this game and planned on it before I found out I was PG.  It will most likely be one of the biggest games of the year.

     I say GO!

  • As long as you're not playing I think it's fine :)  Just bring a seat cusion and a blanket.

  • Thanks for the input ladies, you helped me think of some things I hadn't thought of.  I'm still not sure if I'll go, but your advice is a big help!
  • We have season tickets as well, and I'm planning to go to as many as possible.  As my due date is the bye week between 2 of our biggest games at the end of the season (how that happened--I have NO idea), I've already ruled out the last game, and have said I'll play the other game by ear.  I would hate to miss the games, but since my DH hasn't missed one in 17 years, I'm really hoping Dude holds out and is born either during the week, or on his actual due date.  Here's hoping. :)  I would say, check with your doctor since you should be going about once a week at that point, and see how you feel.
  • DH and I have season tickets for our alma mater.  I'll 38 weeks during the last home game.  No bump is getting between me and my football.

Anyway, year before last the lady in the seats in front of me was going to home games about 3 or 4 weeks before she was due.  If she can do it, I can do it.

  • My husband wants to go to a football game when I'm around 32 weeks.  Not quiet as far along as you but we would have to drive 4 hours to get there so I told him he could go with a friend.  I think if you live close then sitting at the game won't be a problem as long as you can get up and stretch your legs and get to the bathrooms fast.
  • My DH and I wanted to go to a game too when I would be about 36 weeks, but it is in another state.  So...I didn't even have to thing twice.  No way could we do it.

If you are going to be close to home/hospital, I sure would go.  Just be prepared that you will have to pee and there will be a crowd (could be frustrating).

I am guessing that since you are in NC you are going to an SEC game...which are the best!!  Have fun...use the time to do something before the LO gets here.

I think it's ACC here actually.  I'm more of a PAC-10 girl myself because I went to Arizona State, but there is definitely no way we're going to be able to travel and see them this season... which makes me sad, since it's my first time since graduation that I haven't been able to make it back to at least one game  :(
