i was reading the post below on DH's comment and i just have to say that we were trying for a while so when i told people is was pregnant my favorite comment was
"is it your husbands?"That one took the cake as my worst.
One that stuck out was "Oh, you're carrying this one longer." Well thanks lady I barely know who somehow knows that the last pg ended in a miscarriage.
Sometimes people just don't know what to say. In that instant, I suggest to just shut the heck up and smile.
I told one of my co workers and she said in a shocked breathless voice, " Oh ****. Are you going to keep it?" I laughed so loud because it was so unexpected, and forward. Most people I told did the oh you are knocked up look and the monotone congratulations. This co worker was younger, so she was thinking of all the partying she would miss out on if she were pregnant. Lol. Also when we were trying to get pregnant, I would talk with my mom and she would ask "well, are you taking care of yourself?" It took me a while to realize she was talking about whether we were using contraceptives.
When a lady from my office building found out i was pregnant, "Oh i just thought you were a big girl"...Lady from my office responded " Oh No She's a big girl but she's also pregnant!"...yeah....
The week before we announced that we were pg, my Dad (who didn't know we were TTC, but did know that I'd been dx with the MTHFR and couldn't use BCP anymore thanks to his eavsdropping) took me aside and gave me this big long speech about how it wasn't a good time for DH and I to get pg and what alternative contraceptives there were and which ones, in his opinion worked the best. I cracked up the whole time. He kept saying, "What?" and I'd say, "Nothing, I've just been married for 3 years and wouldn't know anything about contraceptives." Followed by the eye roll.
He turned bright red when he found out about the LO hee hee.

Me and my husband had been asked several times when we planned to get pregnant. Our original plan was to wait until the spring of 2010 to start trying but decided we were ready in the spring of 2009 instead. So when we told friends and family they were like
"oh, I thought you were going to wait until next year"
"did you plan this or was it a surprise?"
It did offend me because regardless is the outcome different? NO I am still having this baby that we did plan!!!
Re: MY FAVORITE COMMENT
I've actually been asked that by a commanding officer's wife while DH was deployed - and I wasn't even pregnant. I wanted to cut a b*tch
I really can't recall any funny ones.

My boss asked if we were trying. And in the same breath, told me his wife was pg. So I asked him, "Was it planned?" Small victory.
"Does DH know you were trying?"
Um, yeah.
"How the hell did that happen?!"
Asked by several of DHs friends who did not know we had a vasectomy reversal done.
We started explaining the birds and the bees until the person asking mustered up the guts to say "No, no, I know, but, thought he was snipped???"
Then said "Vasectomy reversal and then sex."
I got: "Are you excited?"
I guess this is just a nicer way of asking if it's a good thing/planned...
DH and I have been together for 8 years (married for 2) and I am nearly 35 and was asked, "Was it planned?"
WTF?
I could see if I was 25 and just married or even 25 and unwed...but seriously?!

Them: "I didn't know you were trying"
Me. " That's because I didn't tell you"
HA!! Now THAT is hilarious. I can only imagine his confusion.
Yeah my sister asked us if we were happy about it?!!
We were stunned and confused. ?I am 38 and my husband is 42 and we got married two years ago and neither of us are the type that DON'T want kids.
We both thought she was being a weirdo and just didn't know what to say. ??
