What di you think of when you hear..

in Baby Names

...the name Luke with my daughter's name Skylar?

This is one of the names on our short list and just wondering if you immediately make a pop culture association or if it takes some time or you nevre make one at all.

And, if you do make it, would it bother you?

Getting all mysterious on you all, huh?

    Yup, Luke Skywalker instantly comes to mind

    Personally, I'm a huge nerd so the reference doesn't bother me at all. But if the reference bothers you, maybe go with Lucas instead of Luke.  And really, if you hadn't put the names side by side in that order, the Star Wars thing probably wouldn't have been as obvious

    Yes, I did think of Star Wars and I've never even seen those movies before (DH thinks I'm crazy, but I have no interest). That being said, I love the name Luke and wouldn't worry about the association. If anything, people will think it's cute, but it's not like your kids will be made fun of for that.?

    Star Wars!  I definitely think Star Wars, and I immediately bust out laughing.  I ask my co-workers, and they spit up their drinks.  But if you like it, who cares.

    Thanks guys.  I didn't event think of it until my Aunt pointed it out.  And, I actually think it is kinda funny and quirky if anyone makes the association.  Doesn't really bother me, just wondering what others thought.  My aunt seemed to think I could NOT name a son that with a daughter Skylar.

    I def thought of luke skywalker right away. Maybe you shoudl introduce them as Skler and Luke.

    TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen.
    BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.

    Instant Star Wars thoughts.  And I'm not into sci-fi/Star Wars at all.  Even Lucas and Skylar would make me see light sabers.

    "May the Force be with you!" haha Honestly, this was the first thing that came to my mind...BUT I love the name Luke (and Skylar). If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it, the reason we all thought of the association is because you put both of the names out there and asked for one...it is be fine, even cute.

    My son is Luke and we get the Skywalker references without there being a Skylar in the family. So if you like it go for it. I love the name!

    Yep, I thought of Star Wars right away.  Sorry.  Yes, it would bother me, but it might not bother you.  Just be prepared for giggles and "what were those parents thinking?" comments.  I love both names, by the way.
