Last week I wrote that I was having my 3rd chemical pregnancy. I went in for blood and my doctor thinks it is ectopic. I feel like i'm spinning out of control right now. I can't stop crying.
On top of everything I've been through, I'm scared. Can you please tell me about your ectopic.
Did your doctor do a biopsy? He wants to do one tomorrow. What is he looking for?
What were your beta numbers like?
What was the shot that they gave you like?
How long did you have to wait after the shot to TTC again?
When you found out it was ectopic, were you scared?
I seriously feel like i'm dying inside right now. Thank you so much for your support.

I'm so sorry. This sucks. Why does he think its ectopic? What are your beta numbers doing?
How is he going to do the biopsy? With my first loss, my Dr. suspected ectopic because the numbers fell then started rising. We never made it to u/s so an inter uterine pregnancy was never confirmed. We did a D&C in which he did a frozen biopsy of the tissues. The biopsy was done & analyzed right there in the OR. They had me prepped for a lap in case the biopsy showed no placental tissue (in which case it would have been ectopic). Thankfully, there was placental cells & it wasnt in my tube. Is that what hes going to do? Maybe do a D&C with the frozen sample?
I've never had an ectopic or the shot, but I have heard you have to wait 3 months after the shot to TTC again.
I am so sorry you are going through this. I know it's hard, but try to relax. It may not be ectopic. But if it is, everything is going to be ok.

I'm sorry you're going through this, it is so unfair.
I had an ectopic almost a year ago. My first beta was 29, then 48 and slowly increasing. I was hoping for a blighted ovum since I pretty much knew it wasn't going to be viable. I did betas once a week until 7 weeks (we were tryign to see if they would fall on their own and finally went in and we saw the ectopic at 7w. I did the methotrexate shot the next day. I went home after the sono showed the ectopic and they gave me my options, shot or surgery and I started googling everything. The side effects that come with the shot are just the worse case scenario. I never had cold sores, flu-like symptoms and my hair didn't fall out, etc. In fact, the nurse gave me the shot in my hip (didn't even feel it) and then that night I'd say the cramping began and I was bleeding and cramping for the next few days. It was pretty quick for me though, intense stabbing cramping on and off that actually made me catch my breath and bleeding, all together probably lasted 5 days for me, and then no more bleeding, just spotting.
I didn't get a biopsy. We were told we'd have to wait for 3 months to try again snce the shot complete depletes your body of folic acid (can't take your PNV after the shot either) and the effects of the shot could do damage to a fetus. Additionally, the shot is very hard on your liver, they took blood from me before the shot to make sure my liver levels were OK to recieve the shot. Then no alcohol or sex or baths for approx 2 weeks after the shot or until you beta comes to zero. For me, it took about 2 weeks to get to zero. My beta the day I got the shot was 3000 and I was terrified it would rupture and I'd have to have surgery even after the shot, but for me 1 shot worked and my beta dropped by about 1/2 in just 2-3 days. Then it slowed and took about 2 weeks.
I'm sorry for your loss adn I'll keep you in my thoughts.
I'm sorry you're going through this. How far along are you? To answer your questions:
My dr did not do a biopsy. I would call and ask detailed questions as to why they want to do it, and what they're looking for.
My betas were low and rose slowly: 15, 21, 26...
The shot was fine. I was told to expect diarrhea and canker sores, but had neither. I was also told to avoid alcohol and folic acid. The shot itself wasn't bad, the reason I was there sucked
I was told to wait one cycle by my ob/gyn, 3 cycles by my RE
Of course I was scared. I was scared it would cause pain, I was scared they were doing the wrong thing, I was scared of a lot of things. But in all honesty, it worked out OK in the end. I had no side effects from the methotrexate, and I was able to TTC again.
Feel free to come in and ask as many questions as you need to.
My number last week (14 dpo) was 27. at 16 dpo it was 67. Today it was 437. My progesterone was 9 and my lining is extremely thin (7)
My doctor said he 100 % that it is ectopic. He is going to biopsy tomorrow and test levels again on wednesday. Then he wants me to do the shot.
