Shopping for clothes=disaster

This is so dramatic I know but when I got home after three hours of shopping for clothes I just sat there and cried.

I'm 6 weeks pp today.  We are in between seasons are far as stores go but I still have to have some summery clothes for the next couple of months.  The good news is everything is on sale.  The bad is it's all picked over and I tried on literally 30 pair of pants to come home with two one of which I'm returning.

Tell me it gets better.  I've started walking again so I can work my way back towards running but I still have 19-20 pounds to lose just to get back to my pre pg weight.  Plus I'm flabby everywhere.  It's not cute.

I'm just venting so sorry if this sounds childish it's just depressing.

  • *hugs* Don't be hard on yourself! It's only been 6 weeks, and you're still recovering, you've still got swelling, etc, to contend with.

But you're not being childish at all. Well, if you are, I'm being childish right there with you. 7 mo pp, and I'm still a mess... My pre pg clothes are a distant memory for me and I've had to buy all new stuff (and even sport a couple pair of maternity shorts sometimes Embarrassed).

Seeing people that bounced back so quickly (mostly because they didn't put a ton on in the first place, like I did) still really upsets me.. Sad

  • Not childish...and it gets better.  I'm finally feeling like myself and I'm almost 6 months out.  At 6 weeks I was feeling odd shaped and uncomfortable.  I can't wait to start running again either.  GL
  • Not childish at all... we've all been there! Well most of us have been. Have you gotten the OK from your OB to exercise? Be patient! The weight will come off it just takes time. HUGS!!
  • BIG HUGS!

No you are not being childish this is a harsh time for women when we are trying so hard to get back to normal and cant. I would still wear waht you can from your mat clothes...I did for a while. Your body is still adjusting and the walking you are doing will begin to show up soon.

Im sorry hon....it does suck....I dont know if I will EVER get back in my pre pg pants regardless of the amount weight I lose....its just not the same!

  • I know how you feel! I was the same way, except it was the season change between spring and summer. It gets better, I promise!! Hang in there and like Hughes said, don't be too hard on yourself!!
  • :::hugs:::  I totally feel you.  It's so frustrating.  Feel free to vent about it!  I spent an hour at Kohl's and had to leave because I was so exhausted trying to find shirts.  My DH didn't help when he mentioned something to the effect of "don't be surprised if "what not to wear" shows up..."  - thanks babe, I feel so much better.

  • Sorry hun, I know it sucks.  I still refuse to buy new clothes b/c I don't want to spend $$ on new clothes that *hopefully* would be too big in a few months...but that just means that I'm stuck wearing maternity clothes.  My butt is still huge and WAY too big to fit in anything non-maternity.

I'm with Hughes in that I am jealous of girls that go back to pre-PG weight so fast.  I am NOWHERE near that, and probably won't be for a year.  Ugh.  Although noone else to blame but me - I'm the one who stuffed my face for 9 months.  =(

You are only 6 weeks PP, so really you do need to give it time.  Then, I was still carrying extra swelling.  Yes, I do have a lot of fat too (lol!) but back then, I did still have extra water weight.  After that went down, the scale didn't budge much but I did notice a little change in my body around 8-10 weeks.  It will get better, but it WILL take time, and probably some serious working out, until you feel better.  It sucks, I know!!
