Infertility

Why is insurance so confusing?!

After discussing our situation further today, DH and I have decided to schedule our initial consultation with a specialist.

My doctor recommended 2-3 clomid cycles following my HSG, which showed only 1 functioning tube.  I did 2 cycles before the HSG test with no luck.  We took a break last month and I'm on my 3rd cycle with no sign of ovulation.  However, my doctor isn't monitoring me- at least not the way the ladies that are seeing specialists have mentioned.   I just don't feel comfortable going forward with any more unmonitored clomid cycles- not matter how "safe" my doctor seems to say it is.

So, DH and I have been researching 2 of the specialist centers in the area tonight. I have insurance coverage for fertility treatments, especially now that I've been found to only have 1 functioning tube.  But, there are all kinds of forms etc. that have to be filled out by the doctor before treatments are approved etc.

It's exciting to be taking this next step, but SO stressful trying to figure out all this insurance stuff!  Tongue Tied

Re: Why is insurance so confusing?!

  • I seriously think it's because they want it to be so hard and terrible that you'll give up and not ever seek medical treatment.  Just be sure to cross all your ts and get whatever you can in writing. Good luck!

  • i'd gladly fill out any forms necessary to get insurance to pay for our treatments.

we're OOP for treatment so far and they're refusing to pay for the diagnostics that I have coverage for...
